📈 Green Weekend for Crypto Majors & Memes

Uptober got off to a rough start.

BTC fell from $64k to $60k in the first 3 days of the month, with alts and memes falling drastically further.

Bears were ready to cancel Uptober entirely.

It appears they may have celebrated too early.

What Happened?

Crypto had a very green weekend, led by crypto majors and memes.

BTC rebounded all the way back to $64k last night before retracing to $63k this morning, still up 5% off the local bottom.

SOL similarly ran from $135 to $150 before dipping to $147 this morning.

But those gains pale in comparison to the meme majors.

• PEPE jumped 10% to $4.26B and entered the top 25
• WIF soared 15% to $2.6B
• POPCAT jumped a whopping 50% on the week to $1.4B
• MOG and NEIRO both passed $600M
• GIGA passed $400M
• SPX passed $300M

It was a good weekend for the memes.

The big action at the top cascaded down through the mid-tier and the lower end, with most memes seeing a 40% bounce or more off the local bottom.

And the "Murad Memes" were clear leaders, as POPCAT, GIGA & SPX were the top stories of the weekend, though his entire list of 10 cult memes saw major green.

His success even spilled into NFTs, with 2 of his top NFT calls (Sproto Gremlins and Project AEON) ending the week as top movers for all of ETH NFTs.

Murad is hot.

Beyond memes, there were a few alts that had strong weekends.

TAO jumped 11% on Sunday to a $4.6B market cap, and SUI continued its strength, rallying 13% to $5.4B.

Runes also saw some nice action, led by PUPS which jumped 100% on the week to $150M and Billion Dolar Cat which pumped 46% to $60M.

Why It Matters

Once again, memes have led all crypto movers after a rebound.

The trend feels cemented.

With POPCAT's ascendance, there are now 7 memes in the top 60 coins by market cap.

Soon it will be top 50. And then?
