NBA Top Shot Ditching Queues?

NBA Top Shot is stress testing a new raffle-style pack drop process Tuesday — one that could replace the queue system used in the past.
Users can sign up for a draw for a WNBA Base Set pack from now until 2 p.m. ET Wednesday. There will be 1,000 packs available and instead of showing up and joining the lottery for an early queue number, users have to confirm their entry and sign for a hold equal to the amount of the pack. If they win the draw, users will be automatically charged for the pack and notified by email.
"Based on the feedback we receive and how this approach performs, it’s possible that RSVP Drops — or a variation of them — becomes a new model for future WNBA and NBA Series 4 Top Shot drops," NBA Top Shot said in a blog Tuesday.
The new drop process was well-received initially on social media.
