Adidas, WAGMI United to Release NFTs With Governance
WAGMI United, the web3 group which purchased an English Football League team, is partnering with adidas for a new NFT collection dropping July 6.
The collection will provide holders with physical merchandise and the ability to decide “key issues” for Crawley Town FC, the League Two team bought by the group back in April. WAGMI United was founded by Preston Johnson and Eben Smith and features investors such as Gary Vaynerchuk, Sean Gearin and gmoney, among others.
"There are some traditional sports teams that claim to be ‘community owned.’ But what do fans actually get? A piece of paper they can frame on their wall? We think they deserve more than that,” said Johnson in a press release. “We want Crawley Town FC to be a community club that reaches anyone with an internet connection. Doing that right means giving our fans a real voice in real decisions that actually make a difference on the field and meaningfully contribute to writing the next chapter in the club’s storied 125-year history.”
As part of the new partnership, adidas will be the official kit manufacturer and apparel provider for Crawley Town FC.
