Zed Run NFT Overview

Project Information

The NFT horse racing ecosystem, Zed Run replicates the multi-billion dollar equine industry on the blockchain, where horse owners can buy, sell, breed, and race digital horses.

Based on Novus Earth, Zed Run horses are made up of four different bloodlines: Nakamoto, Szabo, Finney and Buterin, all with varying degrees of rarity, scarcity, and purity.

There will only ever be 38,000 first generation, or Genesis racehorses on Zed. Their bloodline breakdowns can be found below.

Initially, genesis racehorses also hold a genotype of Z1-Z10, but as genotypes breed, their offspring develop a genotype based on the sum of the mating pair. For example, if a Z1 and a Z5 breed, the offspring will hold a Z6 genotype.

Breeding also introduces intricacies in “breed type.” While first edition horses hold a genesis breed type, offspring, and then eventual third and fourth generations pick up various types based on the makeup of their parents and how far away from genesis they are.

Breed types, genesis, legendary, exclusive, elite, cross, and pacer help determine the minimum breeding price and may impact a horse’s racing ability as well. To help determine which breed type a mating pair might produce, you can refer to this chart from Zed Run.

As of July 2021, Zed secured another $20M in funding to continue to build out their digital horse ecosystem.

In October 2021, Zed Run announced the official start of community tournaments, creating larger prize pools and more community engagement and entertainment.

In partnership with Nascar, Zed Run created Nascar-themed racing skins for a select set of horses.

In December 2021, Zed Run released an update to its roadmap for 2022. The roadmap includes a Q1 2022 release of the project's utility token, the option to retire horses for tokens, and the option to rent out horses to other players.

In February 2022, Zed Run announced new NASCAR-themed race tracks and challenges.
