Mutant Ape Yacht Club NFT Overview

Mutant Ape Yacht Club is a collection of up to 20,000 unique digital collectibles that live on the Ethereum blockchain. Mutant Apes are the brainchild and final step of the first Bored Ape Yacht Club roadmap released by Yuga Labs. 

Developed with two different mutant strains, M1 and M2, Mutant Apes were mutated in two different ways. 

First, for every Bored Ape Yacht Club held, owners were airdropped a random vial of M1 or M2 serum. If they chose to, owners were then able to apply the serum to their original Ape, and generate a Mutant Ape that held the same characteristics as the Bored Ape. 

Because there is no time limit for minting a Mutant, multiple mutant serums that were provided to Bored Ape Yacht Club holders are still available for purchase on the secondary market. 

Additionally, an extra 10,000 Mutant Apes were made available for the public. Released quietly on a Saturday night, a random Mutant Apes of strain M1 or M2, could be minted via dutch auction starting at 3 ETH. The price did not dip much below 2.79 ETH before all Mutants were minted. 

After just more than a month since the Mutant launch, the Mutant Ape Yacht Club collection has generated the fifth highest trading volume in OpenSea history.

In March 2022, Yuga Labs launched ApeCoin ($APE) and opened the 90-day claim period for holders of Bored Ape Yacht Club and Mutant Ape Yacht Club NFTs.
