Argentinian Airline Issues E-tickets as NFTs

Argentinian low-cost airline Flybondi is partnering with TravelX to offer flight tickets as NFTs on the Algorand blockchain, according to a report from CoinDesk.

❗ Why It Matters

The move will aim to take away fritction from the ticketing process, and Flybondi says the move will "offer a more flexible travel experience that allows passengers to even buy in advance without having to define their travel plans or who the travelers will be." According to the report, more than 60 airline companies are currently exploring similar use cases.

🔎The Details

Flybondi's new integration, Ticket 3.0, expands its existing partnership with NFT ticketing company TravelX. The NFT ticketing technology enables passengers to easily change their name, transfer, or sell their NFTickets independently, offering a more flexible travel experience. Built on the Algorand blockchain, the ticketing system reduces customer service costs for the airline and increases revenue from trading fees. Passengers purchase tickets using fiat currency through the Flybondi website, and TravelX issues a synchronized NFTicket alongside the regular e-ticket.
