Meta Announces Its Own NFT Marketplace for Instagram

Meta, the company formerly known as Facebook, announced that it would be creating an NFT marketplace that will be integrated into Instagram in a recent blog post.

"Creators will soon be able to make their own digital collectibles on Instagram and sell them to fans, both on and off Instagram," says the company. Users will all begin with a kit that helps them create their desired NFTs on Polygon.

Collections with metadata and descriptions on OpenSea will have those details shown and embedded on Instagram.

Testing for the product with be open to residents of the US exclusively to begin but the company did make a note that it plans to expand to other countries in the future.

Also in the recent update was that users will soon be able to display their Solana NFTs on Instagram, however, there is currently no update on when and if Solana NFTs will be available to create and purchase on the platform.
