🚀 DeSci Is The Hot New Meme Sector
It was a busy weekend in crypto.
The overall crypto market cap hit a new ATH at $3.06T as overall interest spikes.
Solana jumped to $245 and a new market cap ATH at $118B, and the Solana memecoin ecosystem reacted in kind.
With multiple new metas forming, including an explosive new joiner in DeSci.
What Happened?
Two notable new sectors exploded in interest within the memecoin ecosystem this weekend.
The first is Decentralized Science (DeSci).
Decentralized science (DeSci) uses blockchain and decentralized tech to transform traditional scientific research by reducing reliance on centralized institutions.
It focuses on increasing access to scientific data, promoting transparent peer reviews, and encouraging global collaboration while removing barriers to participation.
Within DeSci, a new protocol Pump Science launched which performs longevity testing of certain drugs on a variety of animals (worms, mice, etc.) with new levels of testing and data streams unlocked at higher market caps.
Their first 2 tokens RIF (Rifampicin) and URO (Urolithin A) were 2 of the biggest winners in all of memes this weekend, running to $200M and $70M respectively and getting listed on Bybit and several Chinese exchanges.
Several other DeSci memes ran in the wake.
Another new meta from the weekend - memecoins x AI Agents x NFTs.
Last night, someone created Punk3493, a new AI Agent based on the likeness of a Zombie CryptoPunk burned by Snowfro.
The creator used the vvaifu AI Agent platform on Solana to launch and promised 1% of the tokens to Snowfro, which led to the token soaring to a $20M market cap in just a few hours and spawning multiple betas.
It's still to be seen if this latter meta has legs, but it has shined a light on the vvaifu platform which was a big winner here.
Why It Matters
The pace of the crypto space (and memes specifically) is accelerating.
It can be very profitable to stay on the look out for new trends and sectors and buy in early (see DeSci).
How to do that?
Build a high-signal list of accounts on X, join group chats, use Kaito AI to spot data trends and generally keep your head on a swivel.
Information is the key here, and then being able to filter noise from signal.
But also, don't get caught up on the ones you missed. The next opportunity is just around the corner...

- Realms (+100%) led notable top movers
- BTC NFT leaders were mostly red; Bitcoin Puppets -2% at 0.178 BTC, NodeMonkes -5% at 0.136 BTC, OMB -1% at 0.142, Quantum Cats -6% at 0.19
- The Runes leaders were very green up 10-50%; DOG +4% at $700M mc, PUPS +35% at $394M, GIZMO even at $55M mc, BDC +27% at $140M, CYPHER +50% to $33M
