NFL Partners With Platform to Build NFT-Based Game

The NFL is creating a blockchain-based video game in partnership with Mythical Games, according to a release from the NFL and NFL Players Association.

The partnership was confirmed on Twitter by Mythical Games CEO John Linden, who added that there will be “collabs” with the platform’s Blankos Block Party, a multiplayer universe game.

"With the rise of blockchain technology, we are thrilled to partner with Mythical Games on a blockchain-enabled game that delivers new play-to-own NFT capabilities, creating a new adventure for fans who love to play football games," said Joe Ruggiero, SVP of consumer products at the NF in a press release. "The interest in NFTs and video gaming amongst current and prospective fans continues to grow and combined have accelerated the NFL’s exploration of new gaming models that can deliver an unmatched experience to fans."

The game, called NFL Rivals, will allow a user to be a general manager of a team, build rosters and collect NFTs of their favorite players. Before the game launches, there will be a series of drops called “Rarity League,” which will include 3D team-based NFTs.
