Sorare Legends Releases New Antonin Panenka Cards
Sorare announced today that the official Antonin Panenka Legend cards are now on its marketplace.
Panenka led the SK Rapid to the UEFA Cup Winner's Cup final nine years after his famous penalty shootout win at Euro 1976, Sorare mentioned in its announcement tweet.
Panenka is a former Czech soccer player (footballer) who spent most of his career with the Bohemians Praha. He scored 76 goals in 14 season with the Bomhemians Praha.
During that time, he won Czechoslovak Footballer of the Year at Euro 1980.
"Back then, in Czechoslovakia, there was very little information about foreign leagues," Panenka says in Sorare's video. "I had no idea that [SK Rapid] were green and white. But I guess green and white are the colors of my life."
"Every year we played the European cups and had good results," he continues. "The peak was the Cup Winners' Cup final in Rotterdam, which we played against Everton, from England. At the time, I had a knee injury, so we agreed I wouldn't start the match. I'd start later depending how it went."
The SK Rapid ended up losing 3-to-1, but Panenka looks back fondly on the competitive game.
