Vera Molnár, a 99-year-old pioneering digital artist, in collaboration with generative artist Martin Grasser dropped her first work successfully yesterday. The joint work, a collection of 500 generative art NFTs titled "Themes and Variations," sold out amassing a total of 631 ETH or $1.2 million in sales.
This successful sale not only marks a triumph for the artists but also serves as a proof of concept for a novel way of auctioning digital art that Sotheby's NFT marketplace, Sotheby’s Metaverse, is currently testing. This was the first Dutch auction format conducted by the auction house in its 300-year history.
