Yuga Labs Will Release Meebits IP
The Meebits IP will officially be released to NFT owners on August 15 according to an announcement from the project's official Twitter.
Releasing the IP to Meebits holders will mirror the IP rights maintained by Bored Ape Yacht Club NFT holders, allowing owners to use their respective NFT for select licensing purposes to help push the brand forward.
According to the announcement, the IP rights for a particular Meebit NFT are based on the owner of the NFT. Therefore, if you own a Meebit NFT and then sell that NFT, you no longer maintain the specific licensing rights to that Meebit NFT. However, any historical use of the IP may live on.
The thread also indicates that in the eventual fineprint, Yuga Labs will reserve the right to make changes to this agreement.
Yuga Labs co-founder Gordon Goner has previously expressed excitement about the potential of working with the Meebits IP. Will this be the change that ignites further details about the future of Meebits?
At the time of writing, the Meebits hold a floor price of 4.75 ETH, down nearly 4% over the last 24 hours.
