NBA Top Shot Releases New Team Leaderboards
In this post

NBA Top Shot recently released its newest feature: NBA Team Leaderboards.

NBA Team Leaderboards allow collectors to lock up their Moments for one year to help them climb up the ranks and earn rewards. The NBA Top Shot team hopes this will create a new level of scarcity for collectors' Moments.

According to recent NBA Top Shot data, 64 percent of all Moments in the ecosystem have never been listed for sale, and as of today, less than four percent of all Moments are listed for sale (1.35 million Moments).

To earn points, collectors must lock up their Moments, which cannot then be sold, gifted, withdrawn, traded-in for tickets, or burned for the duration of the lock (one year). Locked Moments can still be used in challenges.

Points are assigned based on the Moments' corresponding Top Shot score, where one Top Shot point equals one point on all matching leaderboards.

"Exclusive and ground-breaking rewards" will be airdropped throughout the season to leaderboard leaders, according to the team.

For now, locking is only available for teams, but individual player locking is coming soon, and points will be tied to on-the-court performance.
