Bored Ape Yacht Club Merchandise Drop Deals With Checkout Problems

Early this afternoon, Yuga Labs opened a merchandise drop exclusively for holders of a Bored Ape Yacht Club or Mutant Ape Yacht Club NFT. Not only was the drop exclusive to BAYC or MAYC asset holders, but willing participants needed to purchase the drop with ApeCoin ($APE), the project token of Yuga Labs.

Unfortunately though, the launch had some hiccups. Though buyers were able to make their way through checkout, many did not receive a confirmation order for their purchase despite the fact that the $APE coin was taken out of their MetaMask wallet.

The Bored Ape Yacht Club team confirmed the issue and indicated it was not the result of user error, but instead a known issue with the checkout process utilizing Coinbase Commerce.

In a tweet acknowledging the issue the team stated that they will be following up with the next steps for users who were unable to get their purchase confirmed.

Buyers who were affected should remain patient and wait for the follow-up from the Bored Ape Yacht Club team and not click on any links claiming to be the support team for the issue.

Bored Ape Yacht Club will refund payments made in error and email users who weren’t able to checkout during today’s merchandise drop, according to a tweet. #BAYC will also be extending the drop 24 hours until 11:59 p.m. ET Thursday.

More about Bored Ape Yacht Club

Arguably the most successful NFT project, the Bored Ape Yacht Club (BAYC), is a collection of 10,000 uniquely generated bored apes that are stored on the Ethereum blockchain. Launched on April 23, Bored Ape Yacht Club had a mint price of 0.08 ETH and the collection sold out on April 30, 2021. Since its launch, the project has dropped multiple companion collections including Bored Ape Kennel Club, Mutant Ape Yacht Club, and Otherdeed for Otherside, and has helped onboard a number of high profile and celebrity collectors to the NFT ecosystem.
