Week 2 concluded, and it's time to shift our focus to how to optimize our Reginnamkers NFL portfolio for the upcoming weeks. At the start of the season, DraftKings loads the prize pack contests with high-quality players, giving users the opportunity to build their portfolios without significant additional investment.
In this analysis, we will examine all the contests from Week 2, assess the cashing positions in each of them, and lay the groundwork for Week 3, including recommendations on allocating your portfolio's lineups.
Be sure to review all the available players for the upcoming slate here.
Week 2 Contest Recap
I'll first assess each contest individually rather than tier by tier. I'll start by examining the primary 2023 contest at each level, followed by the bankroll boosters, single-entry contests, and the prize pack party contest at each tier. Let's begin by looking at the main 2023 contest at each level.
Main GTD Contest: (Sunday Classic Slate Only)
Winning Score/ Cashing Score/Points over last week
- Core: 143.34/73.42(+14.00)
- Rare: 142.08/83.92 (+20.00)
- Elite: 133.02(-1.84)/ 69.38 (+14.00)
- Legendary: 127.84/50.94.
- Reignmaker: 126.74/83.04 (+18.00)
Notes:
With the total supply increasing week after week, it's no secret that hitting the cash lines has become more challenging. On average, in the main contest this week, it took about 16 additional points in Week 2 compared to Week 1 for a lineup to cash. However, the winning lineup's score did not increase significantly, offering a benchmark for constructing a lineup.
Bankroll Booster
Cashing Score
- Core: 86.84 (+19)
- Rare: 84.60 (+19)
- Elite: 57.74 (+15)
- Legendary: 77.64 (+23)
- Reignmker: No Contest
Notes:
We saw the same type of increase in contests throughout week 2, on average, around 16 points, or higher, were needed to make the cash line. We'll see how much this trend deepens as the weeks go on.
Single Entry
Winning Score/ Cashing Score
- Core: 134.74/88.94 (+20)
- Rare: 135.00/ 92.66 (+16)
- Elite: 116.74/83.25 (+15)
- Legendary: 114.24/76 (+19)
- Reigmaker: 83.62/76.54 (+17)
Notes:
Interestingly, single-entry contests are the most challenging in terms of achieving a cashing score across all tiers. While these contests offer a level playing field with each gamer allowed to enter only one lineup, the payout structure appears to make them the most difficult to cash in
Prize Pack Party Contest
Cashing Score
- Core: 62.66 (+17)
- Rare: 59.06 (+22)
- Elite: 61.60 (+17)
- Legendary: 68.26 (+22)
Notes:
It seems the easy-cashing nature of the prize pack party contests caught on, as on average these contests had the largest increase in terms of average points needing to cash on a week-to-week basis, coming in at around 20 points.
Contest Entry Growth
Lastly, let's keep an eye on contest entry growth, which as more supply comes to the market, we expect an increase, at least for another 2 weeks of the Rush Drop, and until the "Bye" weeks start in week 5.
