DraftKings Reignmakers PGA TOUR: The Approach Set Update
After a week of implementing a new strategy for releasing sets, DraftKings saw a mostly successful outcome last week. This week's drop will be the largest of the four, with comparable value to next week's release. Although the chance of obtaining a "star" golfer is about 50% lower, we will explain in this article why this week's drop is still worth considering.
Golfer Group & Drop Breakdown
Group 1 & 2 Golfers: Masters Participants
To simplify the distribution of golfers in these packs, we can group them accordingly. For instance, based on last week's data, we learned that 60% of golfers with "Group 1 or Group 2" status who played in the previous week had 60% of their total supply in that set, leaving 30% for this week. Below are the names of those golfers:
Based on the expected number of cards to be released, this group will make up roughly 14% of the pack drop. Here are those numbers in a little more detail:
All of these #s are approx. (Roughly 40 golfers pending Aaron Wise & Will Zalatoris decisions)
- CORE Cards: 2200
- RARE Cards: 2200
- ELITE Cards: 1200
- LEGENDARY Cards: 420
Group 2 Golfers: Non-Masters Participants
The following Group 2 golfers did not participate in the Masters.
*Not Pictured: Cam Davis
A total of 19 golfers fit this group and will have 60% of their supply released. That equates to roughly the same percentages as listed above and will total approximately 12.7% of the supply.
All of these tallies below are approximated (19 golfers):
- CORE Cards: 2100
- RARE Cards: 2100
- ELITE Cards: 1200
- LEGENDARY Cards: 380
Totaling up these first two groups gives us around 25% of the total supply being a “Group 1 or Group 2” golfer, and thus, with normal pack distribution, should average at least 1 of them per pack.
Group 3 Golfers: Non-Masters Participants
In Group 3, there are two golfers that did play in last week's tournament and are expected to tee it up this week, Gary Woodland and Adam Svensson. They will have the remaining 25% of the supply released this week. For golfers that are competing for the first time this week, here is their breakdown:
Card breakout:
- CORE Cards: 4590
- RARE Cards: 4590
- ELITE Cards: 2550
- LEGENDARY Cards: 867
Group 4 Golfers: Non-Masters Participants
In Group 4, four golfers competed last week and had their entire supply from this set released in it and won’t be a part of this set. They are Cameron Champ, Harris English, Zach Johnson, and Danny Willett. Here is the rest from group 4 competing this week:
Card breakout:
- CORE Cards: 6660
- RARE Cards: 6660
- ELITE Cards: 3700
- LEGENDARY Cards: 37
