ApeCoin DAO Accepting Applications for the Special Council
ApeCoin DAO opened applications to run for the Special Council until Saturday, May 20.
The Deets
- The application period is open until May 20 at 9:00 p.m. ET
- Two Special Council members will be elected
- Nomination and election to occur over May and June; elected Special Council members to start in July (“Cycle Two”)
- Community discussion event on May 17
The Details
Per AIP-137 and AIP-138, the DAO will select two Special Council members to fill seats 4 and 5 via DAO-wide vote to serve a term from July 1, 2023 - July 1, 2024, for "Cycle Two" of the Special Council Elections process.
Each Special Council member receives $APE every month as compensation, although the exact amount will have to be cleared up.
The Special Council is hosting a Spaces this Wednesday at 10 p.m. ET. Yat Siu (the chairman of Animoca Brands), Gerry, Vera, and Bored Ape G will discuss the upcoming Special Council election and the future of ApeCoin and Web3.
❗️ Why It Matters
The special council on the APE Foundation essentially serves as the ApeCoin DAO's "Board". It provides, at the behest of the ApeCoin DAO members, oversight of the Foundation administrators. The purpose of the Board is to administer DAO proposals and serve the vision of the community, and it meets on proposals requiring administrative review under ApeCoin DAO rules.
With the Otherside looming and the metaverse platform being powered by ApeCoin, these positions seemingly take on increased importance.
