Art Blocks Preview | 'Tide Predictor'
In this post

Art Blocks is back today at 1 p.m. ET with the first Curated release in the new non-series world of Art Blocks v2.0.

The project is "Tide Predictor" from LoVid (@lovidlovid), which leverages the artist's signature video work with digital generative techniques to create red, green, and blue synthesizer images. The collection is the first generative and on-chain work from Lovid, and is inspired by hardware-based images, circuit boards, and electric signal-based art.

Tide Predictor will have a total supply of 400 NFTs, with its Dutch Auction mint mechanic starting at 4 ETH and reaching a final resting price of 0.25 ETH over the course of 1 hour.

About the Artist

LoVid is actually an artist duo, made by Tali Hinkis and Kyle Lapidus. The pair began as a band, touring throughout the US and Europe. They then moved on to interdisciplinary work across video, installations, performance, and stained glass, amongst other mediums.

Their work has been featured in a variety of museums including the Institute of Contemporary Arts in London, and The Museum of Modern Art in New York.

LoVid discovered generative art in 2005, producing installations and sculptures with synthesizer hardware that creates compositions in real-time. Their two notable generative projects include "Cross Current Resonance Transducer" and "More of the Same", created during the 2006-2011 time period.

Market Predictions

The art market is extra frothy right now, with huge Art Blocks tailwinds and even bigger ones from this week's Art Gobblers mint. The market, it is liquid.

Endless Nameless is likely the best comparison project, which holds a 0.9 ETH floor with a 1,000 NFT supply. So from a market cap perspective, assuming that comp, the resting floor could be in the 2-2.5 ETH range. Watch that range for a potential target.

The extra liquidity in the market will likely drive up the mint price today for Tide Predictors, compared to where it would have minted 3 weeks ago. It is likely to move in the 1-1.5 ETH range today (if not higher), given the lower supply, the recent success of other Art Blocks projects, and the extra collectability factor in its being the first Curated project of Art Blocks 2.0.

If it reaches a price below that, it becomes almost a slam dunk mint. Above the 1.5-2 ETH range and it becomes riskier.
