Beeple Says Involvement With Solana Project Overstated
Notable digital artist Beeple says a report from Decrypt that he's bringing 3D NFTs to Solana is "not remotely accurate."
The story from Decrypt said Beeple was bringing "immersive 3D NFTs" to Solana, citing a Sunday presentation from Metaplex Studios CEO Stephen Hess at the Solana Breakpoint conference in Lisbon, Portugal.
“In partnership with the Render Network, we’re excited to welcome Beeple to Metaplex and Solana,” Hess said, according to a video from the event, calling the Beeple project "the future of streaming and immersive 3D NFTs."
Beeple tweeted that he was in "super preliminary talks with nothing remotely set or agreed upon" and it got "spun up to this."
Hess replied to Beeple's tweet Monday saying that he "should have confirmed the consent, directly with you, of what was announced."
"Metaplex first and foremost exists to empower creators, and this means creators need to be respected and that their work be communicated according to their wishes – and I definitely fell short of that mark on this," Hess said.
Beeple has served as an advisor to Render Network, Decrypt reports.

Hess shared a slide in his Sunday presentation that indicated it would allow users to "remix an NFT on Render" and "create your own unique NFT with a Beeple Everyday' with a "randomized set of objects and time to create with."
The Beeple: Everydays collection holds a 17.95 ETH floor at the time of writing, with just two sales in the past month.
