Coinbase Puts Support Behind New Rarity Standard

Coinbase announced its support of standardized rarity in a tweet Thursday.

The company said it plans to "opt into" the new rarity standard called OpenRarity that OpenSea built with Icy Tools, Curio and PROOF Collective.

"With the recent explosion of new NFT marketplaces and tools, there's been a divergence of rarity rankings across platforms, which can be confusing for collectors. OpenRarity aims to standardize rarity rankings with a “best effort” protocol," the account CoinbaseNFT tweeted.

On Wednesday, OpenRarity announced that Pudgy Penguins, Cool Cats and PROOF opted in to have their collections rated by the new standard, which will be integrated into OpenSea.
