OpenSea Announces OpenRarity

OpenSea announced a new rarity standard for OpenSea users called OpenRarity. OpenSea collaborated with PROOF Collective, Icy Tools, and Curio Tools on the new rarity methodology. OpenRarity provides a "verifiable, consistent & mathematically-grounded approach to rarity calculations."

OpenSea explained some of its processes in comparing different rarity calculation options in a thread on Wednesday. The teams used community feedback to create the final methodology for OpenRarity.

NFT collections and creators will be able to opt-in to OpenRarity as it is not required. Developers will be given access to the API when opted into OpenRarity, making this data accessible to more users.

OpenRarity will launch on OpenSea next week so be on the lookout for more details.
