Nike Virtual Studios Announces .SWOOSH x EA SPORTS Partnership
Today, Nike Virtual Studios and EA SPORTS announced a new partnership that will give members of .SWOOSH a chance to personalize their virtual sports experience, per a tweet from @dotSWOOSH.
The Deets
- Nike’s new partnership with EA SPORTS will look to build new immersive experiences and unlock brand new levels of customization within the EA SPORTS ecosystem.
- In future EA SPORTS titles, EA SPORTS and Nike plan to make select .SWOOSH virtual creations available, allowing members and players unique new opportunities for self-expression and creativity through sport and style.
❗ Why It Matters
This collaboration brings together Nike and Electronic Arts, two industry giants in sport and entertainment, respectively. It also speaks to Nike's ability to leverage its brand across mediums, which is of course what members of Nike’s new digital community expected when Nike set its sights on Web3.
Nike has always been synonymous with sport, and this move is perhaps the next frontier of digital immersion for its virtual product (the iconic silhouettes of its shoes have long graced the hardcourt in the NBA 2K series and previously existed in EA Sports' FIFA franchise, which will simply become EA Sports after FIFA 23).
