Payment Giant Stripe Releases Fiat-to-Crypto Onramp For Web3 Companies

On Thursday, online payment giant Stripe released a customizable, embeddable fiat-to-crypto onramp widget — aiming to help Web3 developers quickly and easily onboard users and fund wallets.

Several blockchain and NFT companies have already begun to utilize the onramp, including marketplace Magic Eden, music-streaming platform Audius, and crypto wallet Argent.

The feature is able to be integrated into DEXs, NFT platforms, wallets, and dApps with just 10 lines of code — with Stripe also taking care of KYC, payments, fraud, and compliance.

"Today, it’s extremely difficult to get end users 'on chain'—that is, to fund their wallets with the crypto required to interface with Web3 applications," Stripe wrote in the announcement. "We built our fiat-to-crypto onramp to remove this complexity."
