Morning Minute | Trump Aims to Raise $36M with 3rd NFT Launch

TylerD's Market Summary

💰 Trump NFTs Are Back

Donald Trump has notably been the pro-crypto candidate in this election cycle.

Crypto Twitter's "darling" candidate gained steam from his comments at Bitcoin Nashville and in a handful of other interviews.

Now, Trump is showing his love for NFTs by dropping his 3rd collection.

What Happened?

Yesterday, Presidential candidate Donald Trump shared a 2-minute video teasing the release of his 3rd NFT collection.

The set is called "Trump Digital Trading Cards - America First" edition.

A quick TLDR of the launch:

  • What: Digital trading cards, similar to his prior 2 NFT collections
  • Price: $99 each
  • How Many: 360,000 total possible supply
  • Where: Minted from his site, residing on Polygon
  • Incentives: Buyers of 75 and/or 250 cards get perks like Dinner with Trump, a private cocktail reception and more
  • Secondary: not available for transfer or resale until Jan 31, 2025

So the NFTs are not tradable for 5 more months.

And Trump is set to raise nearly $36M if the NFT collection sells out (unlikely with just 17,000 minted so far).

Why It Matters

The actions of the former President are certainly under more scrutiny than ever during this razor-tight election cycle.

His sons have each had questionable crypto ties in recent months, with all of his sons involved in certain degrees with several memecoin launches (and rugs).

And now Donald is back to sell more NFTs.

But at least it's something he and his team have done before, and clearly there is demand.

His fanbase is strong, with $1.7M in NFTs sold in less than 24 hours since launch (the private dinner incentive helps).

Overall, it's unlikely this NFT mint impacts his campaign in any way other than a nice raise for Trump. And doubtful we're still talking about it in a few weeks.

Though perhaps that's a bad sign for minters...
