TipLink Raises $6M from Sequoia and Multicoin

TipLink, which enables users to send crypto with just a link, announced today that they raised $6 million in a seed funding round co-led by Sequoia Capital and Multicoin Capital.

🔙 Back It Up

TipLink's services can be used to pay and gift other individuals, and even for giveaways. A TipLink is a link that doubles as a crypto wallet of sorts. Using TipLink, one can deposit and send digital assets (like crypto or NFTs) to others, regardless of if they already have a crypto wallet.

The company launched its beta in Sep. 2022 at the Format Festival where TipLink-powered vouchers were provided to visitors to the Solana House. Thousands of NFTs were claimed with QR codes that could be spent on food and snacks. Perhaps most importantly - users weren't exposed to intricacies of the crypto technology, and only experienced the benefits and upside.

❗ Why It Matters

TipLink's stated mission is to onboard the next 1 billion people into crypto, by streamlining the distribution of crypto assets. TipLinks can be embedded and shared in digital forms of communication such as emails, text, messaging apps.

The company stated that the funding will be used to further build out link wallet functionality, improve the API, and expand engineering and business development to support a pipeline of partnerships.

🎤 Founder Feedback

TipLink is the easiest and most versatile way to send and receive digital assets of all kinds. There's still a tremendous amount of friction in crypto that holds back mainstream adoption. It's unreasonable to ask the general population to set up a 12- or 24-word seed phrase wallet, much less a hardware wallet, just to send a dollar or receive a commemorative NFT. TipLink solves one of the biggest problems in crypto: how to send digital assets in a frictionless way.">source="
