You Used To Call Me On My SOL Phone!

Solana Labs announced that its crypto-forward smartphone, Saga, will go on public sale on May 8, with pre-ordered devices shipping now.

Why It Matters

First hinted at in 2022, the Sol Phone has left the market curious about the impact a native crypto phone could have on the ecosystem, and soon we'll finally able to see what it can do. By offering a dedicated crypto smartphone, Solana is catering to demand for secure, user-friendly crypto experiences on mobile devices.

The Deets

  • 512 GB storage, two back camera lenses, 6.67-inch OLED display, fingerprint scanner
  • Features Solana Mobile Stack (SMS) for crypto integration
  • Custom "seed vault" for private key storage
  • Dedicated dApp store with over a dozen applications

The Details

The Saga phone will cost $1,000 and integrates crypto functionality into the phone, offering a custom dApp store, which currently hosts over a dozen applications covering crypto trading, inter-wallet communications, music, and digital collectibles.

As highlighted in the CoinDesk article, this is not the first instance of a company trying to introduce a crypto-centric phone, with previous attempts by HTC and smaller companies like Sirin Labs falling short.

🎬 Take Action
