Azuki Shares Major Decentralization Update on Second Birthday

Azuki shared a major update on evolving into a decentralized anime ecosystem with an extended focus on physicals and gaming.

The Deets

  • Azuki's 2nd anniversary marks a significant shift towards creating a decentralized anime ecosystem.
  • Priorities include growing the Azuki IP and rewarding the community.
  • Expansion in three main areas: Anime, Physical, and Gaming.
  • Token Incoming? Engaged Fenwick West

The Bulk

Celebrating its second anniversary, Azuki is transitioning from a mere NFT brand to a pioneering force in the decentralized anime world. Its vision is clear: grow the Azuki Intellectual Property (IP) and enrich the community experience whilst rewarding holders. This ambitious goal is being pursued through a multi-faceted strategy encompassing Anime, Physical Products, and Gaming.

In the Anime sector, Azuki is collaborating with Goro Taniguchi, the director of the acclaimed Code Geass, and Dentsu, Japan's leading ad and production agency. Their joint efforts are geared towards producing an Azuki anthology series, with the first episode expected in Q2. Further investments in various anime projects, both short and long-form, are underway.

The Physical aspect involves expanding the range of Physical Backed Tokens (PBT) products. This expansion blurs the lines between the physical and digital realms, like with Azuki's Golden Skateboards. A new luxury brand launch is expected soon, featuring a golden Beanz.

Azuki's gaming iniative will kickstart with the release of a hyper-casual mobile game featuring BEANZ later this year.

The most notable bullet may have come at the end of the announcement, in which Azuki indicated its engaged Fenwick West, who previously worked with Yuga Labs, Rug Radio, and others on tokens.

📊 By the Numbers

Despite the enormity of the announcement, Azuki's flagship collection is down more than 7% on the day to 6.175 ETH.
