Yuga Labs Donates CryptoPunk, Commences New Art Museum Initiative

Yuga Labs is donating CryptoPunk #305 to Miami's Institute of Contemporary Art, according to a tweet from the project.

The donation begins the "Punks Legacy Project," an initiative designed to further the reach of CryptoPunks and NFTs with Yuga Labs overseeing the donation and installation of CryptoPunk NFTs to art museums around the globe.

“We believe NFTs belong in museums, and I’m thrilled to be kicking off the Punks Legacy Project with ICA Miami and CryptoPunk #305," said newly installed CryptoPunks brand lead, Noah Davis.

Yuga Labs will also offer resources and education to ICA Miami on topics like web3, crypto art history, crypto security, and NFT best practices.

The news comes just one month after Yuga Labs pledged $1 million in support of art and education programs in Miami, where co-founders Greg Solano and Wylie Aronow have roots.

“We’ve been planning this for some time and are excited to finally announce Yuga’s investment in the future of our hometown. Miami has become a hub of a dynamic industry where Yuga Labs is at the forefront of innovation,” said Solano.

CryptoPunk #305, which features a "blonde bob" and "VR headset" was transferred to a wallet presumably owned by ICA Miami yesterday. That wallet also contains a Nina's Super Cool World NFT which was purchased for 15 ETH four months ago.

The floor price for VR Headset Punks is 79.80 ETH at the time of writing.
