NBA Top Shot Introduces Playoff Redemptions
NBA Top Shot announced the introduction of "Redemptions," a unique NBA Playoffs collectibles experience through the 2023 NBA Finals.
The Deets
- Redemptions are a new collectible that gives you control over the supply of each 2023 NBA Playoffs Moment.
- Each Redemption you own can be traded 1:1 for that player's new, exclusive, and limited edition Moments from the First Round, Conference Semis, Conference Finals, and NBA Finals.
- The further a team advances, the more scarce and limited edition their 2023 NBA Playoffs Moments can become.
- Common 2023 NBA Playoffs Moments will not be released in Packs. You will make them using Redemptions as the 2023 NBA Playoffs unfold.
- The packs will release at 1:00 p.m. ET on April 17, with $10 “Dropping Dimes” and $29 “Three-Pointer” Playoffs Packs, each featuring Redemptions inside. This will be the only drop dedicated to the Playoffs (until June’s Legendary Finals Drop).
- Every Pack you purchase in April (Starting April 11) gives you one entry to win an all-inclusive 2023 NBA Finals trip.
The Details
Only 5,000 total collectibles will exist for each Player Redemption and Wildcard Redemption, making this Common collection 60% smaller than the 2022 Playoffs Set on Top Shot, with a fixed supply. When you own a Redemption from The Champion’s Path Set, you have guaranteed access to any future 2023 Playoffs Moment of that player and team.
Each playoff team will receive three Redemptions, meaning there will be 48 unique Redemptions in total. Two of the three will reflect guaranteed Redemptions from the team’s top two players. A third “Wildcard” Redemption can be paired with any other player on that team. The further a team advances, the more scarce and limited edition their 2023 NBA Playoffs Moments can become. At the end of each round, the best Moments can be redeemed using a Redemption or the previous round’s Moment of that player.
For those who complete the 2023 NBA Champion's Challenge by collecting all 12 Moments and 3 Unique Redemptions of the team that wins the 2023 NBA Finals, they will earn a limited edition Reward showcasing the champion team's journey. The total amount of these Challenge Rewards to exist will match the number of collectors to complete the 2023 NBA Champion’s Challenge.
And by purchasing packs in April, fans have a chance to win an all-expense paid trip to the 2023 NBA Finals, with two winners being randomly selected. One will win an all-expense paid trip to Game 1 and Game 2 of the NBA Finals for them and a guest. The other will win an all-expense paid trip to Game 3 and Game 4 of the NBA Finals for them and a guest.

This new approach to the release of collectibles this postseason gives users a degree of control over the supply of each 2023 NBA Playoffs Moment. Until now, users were at the mercy of Dapper Labs to determine the ultimate supply of a given player's Moments. Now users will be able to exert some control over supply. Additionally, NBA Top Shot is fully leaning into its NBA partnership with this playoff push, offering two different expenses paid trips to lucky participants. True fans have yearned for opportunities to maximize IRL experiences as part of the Dapper Labs/NBA collaboration, and these experiences will do just that.
