Wabi Sabi is a collection of 205 generative art NFTs created by Doctor of Engineering and code artist Kazuhiro Tanimoto on the Ethereum blockchain. The collection was released as part of the Art Blocks Presents NFT collection. Wabi-sabi is an ancient Japanese aesthetic that refers to the acceptance of imperfection and transience. Tanimoto attempts to store this complex, yet simple Japanese concept on the blockchain through the Wabi Sabi collection. The underlying code of the collection dynamically generates brushstrokes based on the motifs of Japanese calligraphy that is known as "Shodo". The collection is interactive and allows viewers to edit the output by redrawing the brushstrokes within a specific output.
