Ticketmaster has partnered with Avenged Sevenfold to launch its NFT-gated ticket sales, enhancing the fan experience and ticket security, according to Decrypt.
🔎 The Deets
- NFT-gated ticket sales now available on Ticketmaster
- Avenged Sevenfold pioneers the feature for exclusive presales
- Token-gating offers improved security and unique fan experiences
Ticketmaster, in collaboration with the popular metal band Avenged Sevenfold, has introduced NFT-gated ticket sales. This innovative feature allows artists to provide special access to concert and event tickets for eligible NFT owners. By doing so, Ticketmaster offers an enhanced experience for fans while improving ticket security.
Avenged Sevenfold's Deathbats Club NFT collection serves as the pilot for the token-gating feature. Owners of the 10,000 Deathbats Club Ethereum NFTs were granted early access to purchase tickets for the band's upcoming New York City and Los Angeles arena shows in June.
The token-gating feature, now available to any artist with their own NFT collection or partnership with an NFT community, can unlock various benefits for fans. From first access to tickets to exclusive experiences like attending soundchecks, the possibilities are vast and artist-driven.
❗ Why It Matters
The implementation of NFT-gated ticket sales by Ticketmaster and Avenged Sevenfold marks a significant milestone in the adoption of NFTs and web3 technologies within the entertainment industry. By integrating NFTs with ticket sales, artists can foster stronger connections with their fans while offering unique experiences and benefits. The enhanced security features of NFTs also protect fans from counterfeit tickets and promote a fair ticket distribution system.
As more artists and event organizers adopt NFT-gated tickets, the broader crypto and NFT ecosystems will likely experience increased mainstream interest and acceptance. This development can also encourage other industries to explore the potential of NFTs and web3 technologies, expanding their use cases and demonstrating their real-world value.
This isn't Ticketmaster's first time dealing with NFTs, as they worked with the NFL on their exclusive drop, too.
