Smilesss Founder: 'I Am Not Going to Walk Away'
Smilesss Founder Waheed Zai issued a statement to the community earlier today, insisting the NFT project is not a rug and is currently dealing with unspecified legal issues.
"It [has] been months," Zai began. "I have heard everything that the community had to say. I've been involved in those conversations; from being labeled a rug to Smilesss not deserving this community to everything else in between. I get it, trust me, I do."
Zai went on the explain the silence over the past few months.
"The silence in the past couple [of] months has been due to many factors, one aspect being legal," he continued. "This has put me in a [position] to not be able to speak on certain factors until everything gets resolved and until all parties go about their [business]. This has nothing to do with the bear [market] or how the market is doing, but everything to do with internal restructuring."
The project's founder said he spent the last couple of months fighting for the future of his creation, but ensured the community he is still committed to building what he set out to create.
"I am the one that is the most disappointed with how things unfolded, but I don't have the luxury to walk away," he said. "I am not going to walk away; I just need time. The community has been very patient with me, [and] I don't take that sh*t for granted."
Zai does not blame other members of the team for walking away, and he appreciates the community's continued support, according to the post. He claims to have identified the problem and removed it and hopes to get back to "regular scheduled programming" soon.
"Before I end my thoughts, though there is so much more to say, I just want to say thank you to those of you who took the time to reach out and remind me it's okay to not be okay and to allow myself to feel the overwhelming emotion," he concluded. "Those words have been pillars during such clouded days."
