π Blast Announces Delayed Airdrop Date
Excitement was building for what was supposed to be the final stretch of Blast farming ahead of the airdrop coming end of May.
Well, farmers and traders are going to have to wait another month.
And many don't seem happy about it.
What Happened?
Yesterday Blast announced its airdrop date for June 26.
Other highlights from the announcement:
- The airdrop allocation will be increased due to the delay
- 2 more Dapp Blast Gold distributions are coming
- Blur Season 3 will end on June 26 as well
So the team confirmed more dilution of Blast Gold (though we don't know how much) but a slight consolation in increasing the airdrop token allotment.
This led NFT Stats to drop his Blast Gold estimate from $10 to $6, based on:
- an increase in Gold from 56M to 100M (his assumption)
- raising distribution size from 5% to 6%
- lowering the FDV from $12B to $10B tied to the state of the market
That's a big reduction, but note that his reduction in FDV was also a major factor. Had he held the FDV estimate at $12B, Gold would still be north of $7.
Regardless of the specifics and assumptions - everyone's estimates were revised down by this mostly disappointing news.
Market Response
There were some notable winners after the news broke.
- $PAC jumped 18% to $52M as many think it will likely hit more Jackpots
- The Fantasy Top floor rebounded after a recent dip, as many think it will continue being a top recipient of Gold
Fantasy Top seems to be the biggest winner here.
They got the 2nd biggest allotment of Blast Gold in the last distribution and there's no reason to think that will change in the next one.
Many have questioned how long the game will remain viable once Gold rewards are removed - well, now they're confirmed to last another 6-7 weeks at minimum.
That gives the team a lot of runway to develop a real fan base, generate revenue and develop plans for a post-Gold world.
Jackpot enthusiasts are winners here too. Now there are at least another month of Jackpots to root for (hence the PAC pump).
The other winners - late comes to Blast. They now have another month to dive in and catch up to those who were early (early farmers likely the biggest losers here).
So get some rest - the final Blast sprint just turned into a 6-week marathon.
