NFTerra: Terra NFTs Welcome Fantasy Sports, The Battle of Melas Chasma, and... a Duck

Terra (LUNA) quickly established itself as one of crypto's premier blockchains with its ever-expanding and unique ecosystem of decentralized finance (DeFi) protocols. Now, Terra NFTs are growing into a formidable alternative to the dominant Ethereum-based projects, especially in the P2E (play-to-earn) space due to Terra's low transaction fees.

This article highlights three of the most important Terra NFT news items each week. This week: Levana Dragons's Battle of Melas Chasma rages on, NFT fantasy sports are coming in April via Playible, and Luna the Duck tells the history of Terra through cartoon drawings.

The Battle of Melas Chasma Rages on for Levana Dragons

Official Levana Dragons Battle of Melas Chasma Website

On Mar. 15, Levana Dragons launched the Battle of Melas Chasma, a war between factions for control of Mars.

Deemed the "largest multi-player game experience on Terra," the Battle of Melas Chasma pits Levana's four factions (Council, Free Martians, Guardians, and Terrans) against each other for control over 16 different command centers. Players have a set number of skirmish points to use on either the defense of their own command centers or attacking other factions' command centers.

The winning faction is determined by the total number of command center captures and holds. The current leaderboard, as of the time of this article's publication, is as follows:

  1. Guardians (170 captures, 34 held)
  2. Council (183 captures, 31 held)
  3. Free Martians (196 captures, 28 held)
  4. Terrans (157 captures, 19 held)

Official Playible Website

On Mar. 17, Playible announced its official launch via OnePlanet NFT on Apr. 9.

Playible is an NFT-based fantasy sports platform building on the Terra ecosystem. Utilizing decentralized finance (DeFi) stablecoin yield on Anchor Protocol, the team will offer free-to-enter fantasy sports contests (players only need Athlete NFTs, which can be purchased via Starter or Booster Packs and the secondary marketplace) with real cryptocurrency prizes (paid out in Terra's native stablecoin, $UST).

Playible has been promoting its two initial fantasy sports contests over the last few weeks: the Angel Cup for charity (in partnership with Angel Protocol) and the Community Challenge.

The Angel Cup will donate 5,000 $UST to the winner's charity of choice. The Community Challenge is for Playible's community at large, offering 5,000 $UST and $5,000 worth of Terra NFTs as prizes for those who join before the launch on Apr. 9.

Luna The Duck NFT Series Documents the History of Terra

Luna The Duck is documenting the history of the Terra ecosystem through an NFT cartoon series.

Luna the Duck, which is a cartoon based on the Terra network's logo with eyes and feet, travels the world and takes note of important Terra updates and developments.

In the image above, Luna the Duck is looking for Doge dog after $LUNA surpassed $DOGE in market cap. The graffiti on the wall reads, "Do woz here," referencing Terra's co-founder Do Kwon.

The NFT cartoon series plans to continue making NFTs to immortalize the Terra ecosystem via NFTs.
