Yuga Labs Files Trademark for Otherside Drink
In this post

Yuga Labs Inc. filed a trademark for an Otherside-themed drink last month, according to a report from the US Patent Office and first reported by @CrypteHaut.

❗ Why It Matters

Yuga Labs is gearing up for the release of the Otherside and appears to be planning a drink tie-in as one component of its marketing effort. The 'Don't Drink Me' drink was actually shown in the initial Otherside trailer from nearly a year ago (Mar. 18, 2022).

The trademark application is significant as it foreshadows the anticipated release of Yuga Labs' Otherside metaverse platform. And the mascot is a Koda, which many have speculated will feature prominently in the future Otherside experience.

What It Means

At first glance, the trademark covers a generic drinks category ("DON'T DRINK ME™ trademark registration is intended to cover the categories of beer; Energy drinks; Non-alcoholic beverages; Soft drinks; Fruit juices; Waters; Soda water; Cider, non-alcoholic").

But @CrypteHaut went even further down the rabbit hole and also pointed out that back in August 2022, TROMBA USA (a tequila company) filed an application for a 'Don't Drink Me' trademark under the "Distilled blue agave liquor; Distilled spirits category."
