Decentraland announced an upgrade to its marketplace, enhancing navigation for better discoverability across primary and secondary markets.
The Deets:
- Updated marketplace navigation for better user experience
- Improved discoverability across both primary and secondary markets
- Special callout feature to buy directly from creators still in minting process
The Bulk
Decentraland, one of the leading metaverses, rolled out significant updates to its NFT marketplace. The overhaul aims to improve user experience and enhance discoverability across both primary and secondary markets.
The key update is a restructured navigation system that allows users to more efficiently explore and engage with the various offerings within the marketplace. Whether they're seeking out new minted assets or looking for secondary sales, users can now navigate the platform with ease and precision.
Additionally, the upgrade introduces a special callout feature that highlights creators still in the process of minting new items. This unique spotlight allows users to support and directly purchase from these creators, bolstering the creative community within Decentraland.

Decentraland's recent Metaverse Fashion Week attendance experienced a 76% year-over-year decline, per a report today from The Block.
The Deets
- The number of unique attendees at Decentraland's Fashion Week fell to 26,000 from 108,000 last year (a sharp year-over-year decline of 76%).
- Barely more than 1,000 people were online at the same time during the four-day event.
- Current weekly trading volumes for land NFTs are only around $50,000 a week.
The Details
Decentraland's recent virtual fashion week saw a significant decline in attendees, with only 26,000 unique attendees at this year's Metaverse Fashion Week compared to the 108,000 attendees at last year's event. And although the most recognizable brands like Adidas, Dolce & Gabbana, and Tommy Hilfiger sponsored shows, "a Decentraland spokesperson said the most people signed in at one time barely eclipsed 1,000 people."
Additionally, trading volumes for land NFTs within Decentraland have dropped to about $50,000 per week. These numbers are night and day compared to the "trading volumes that consistently exceeded $1 million per week through the end of 2021 and the beginning of 2022, according to The Block research."
❗ Why It Matters
The decline in attendance and trading volume in Decentraland indicates limited interest in metaverse platforms, at least at this time. CoinDesk's research concluded that the active population on Decentraland on an average day was only 810 in December 2022.
All is not doom and gloom for the future of metaverse platforms, however, as things will likely be different for Yuga's Otherside gaming platform - with Gucci entering a multi-year partnership with Yuga Labs last week. If anything, the poor attendance at Metaverse Fashion Week shows that there's still a disconnect between the types of consumers who use Decentraland and the types of consumers seeking out digital fashion events.

Decentraland announced the launch of the public SDK 7 Beta, with a focus on usability, performance, and portability.
The Deets
Decentraland's SDK 7 Beta provides the following enhancements:
- A new UI based on FlexBox.
- Improved interoperability with external JavaScript libraries.
- Improved performance.
- Support of multiple button events, and more.
❗Why It Matters
Improving the complexity and customization of metaverse scenes will be necessary to bring even more users in. Decentraland is relying on its latest improvements to make the editing and creating experience more powerful, and easier for its users who ultimately can bring in additional users through the creation of powerful mini-games or scenes (similar to Minecraft or Roblox).
🎤 Platform Prose
In addition to improving the scene development process, SDK 7 should also make it easier to create any variety of alternative projects upon the Decentraland ecosystem, have a positive impact on performance, and pave the way for more robust and streamlined multiplayer functionality - to name just a few of its benefits!Decentraland

Are you ready for the wedding? Tomorrow in Decentraland, there is a real wedding taking place inside the Taco Bell venue, according to a tweet from Decentraland.
❗Why It Matters
The wedding likely has no impact on Decentraland prices or the metaverse's future, but it's refreshing to find a web3 story that isn't focused on frenzied speculation. Plus, Taco Bell - a company that has been active in web3 - is sponsoring the event, coordinating an official calendar entry on the Decentraland events page.
The Deets
The wedding will take place at 3:00 a.m. ET.

In a tweet this afternoon, notable virtual world project The Sandbox shared its recent growth metrics, which are significantly higher than data that has been shared recently in the crypto and NFT space.
📢 Our ALPHA Season 3 growing metrics 👇
— The Sandbox (@TheSandboxGame) October 10, 2022
🔹Daily Users: 39K
🔹Monthly users: 201K
🔹Total Wallets: 4.1M
🔹LAND Owners: 22,267
🔹$SAND staking: 128M SAND
🔹Website 30d Users: 1.6M
🔹Number of chat messages: 4.1M
🔹KYC users: 113K
🔹Hours played: 1.6M#SandboxAlphaS3
Among other key metrics, The Sandbox is noting 39,000 daily active users ("DAUs") for their metaverse, 1.6 million website users on the month and 1.6 million hours played.
These metrics from The Sandbox are likely in response to some data from DappRadar which was circulated over the weekend, stating that virtual world Decentraland had just 38 DAUs and The Sandbox had just 522. These DAU metrics were then compared to the projects' market caps (~$1.3 billion each), essentially mocking the imbalance.
This led Decentraland to fight back as well, sharing their own data on Friday:
Let's have a look at some of September's data:
— Decentraland (@decentraland) October 7, 2022
56,697 MAU
1,074 Users interacting with smart contracts
1,732 minted Emotes
6,315 sold Wearables
300 Creators received royalties
161 created Community Events
148 DAO Proposals
The exchange from both metaverse projects has put some scrutiny on DappRadar, leading the DappRadar CEO to respond to the Decentraland post explaining that their data stems from users who make "on-chain transactions." The DappRadar CEO went on to acknowledge Decentraland's note and soften their stance.
"Having said that, we understand on-chain is not telling the complete story for every dapp, that's something we are actively working on," CEO Skirmantas Januškas said. "The future is a combination of on- and off-chain data."
Clearly data can be used to create narratives in many ways, and as always, it's best to DYOR (do your own research).
