Partner communities have until midnight ET tonight to go trick-or-treating at the Nightmare Imp's door, according to the Forgotten Rune's Wizards Cult Twitter.
The event started on Friday, Oct. 28 allowing members of ten different NFT communities to knock on the Nightmare Imp's door and earn an airdropped token - either a trick or a treat.
Supply for each partner community is 1,000 tokens, dispersed on a first-come-first-served basis. Holders of partner community NFTs have an equal chance of revealing trick or treat, while members of the Forgotten Runes Wizard's Cult have an 80 percent chance of revealing a treat.
Lucky users who receive a treat might be able to redeem it for a Forgotten Runes Wizard, Warrior, or more.
Ready to go trick-or-treating? You can do so here.
Forgotten Runes Wizard's Cult holders will have one extra week to go trick-or-treating and all users will have an unlimited amount of time to reveal their box, once they have gone trick-or-treating.
In a Twitter thread this afternoon, Forgotten Runes founder Dotta (@dotta) outlined several new details for their upcoming Massively Multiplayer Online Role-Playing Game ("MMORPG"). The thread is mostly focused on the combat mechanics of the game, which Dotta describes as "dynamic, strategic, and rewarding."
Highlights from the update include:
- Memory Crystals will be earned to customize character abilities, which build on each other
- Each player will have to eventually choose a Color Path, defining different factions with different specialties
- Specialization will unlock the ability to gather High Crystals, which unlock higher abilities
- There will be three tiers of enemies, including Minions, Elites, and Bosses
- Dungeons and enemies will scale with character levels, and Dungeons will involve progressively harder fights and will provide rewards
- There will be active PVP areas of the world, and the player initiating combat has an advantage
- Victory: defeating an enemy yields XP and resources to upgrade your character
Beyond those details, Dotta shared that the team of 35 full-time resources (35!) is making great progress and expects a fully playable game in Q1 2023.
Dotta also throws shade at other play-to-earn crypto games, calling them "yield farms with pretty pictures," and goes on to describe the Forgotten Runiverse game as a "full World-of-Warcraft style MMO built by industry veterans who know how to build a *fun* game, grounded in crypto-ownership."
Many crypto-games are just yield farms with pretty pictures.

Holders of Forgotten Runes Wizard's Cult locks and Sacred Flames can now combine the two in the Great Forging, according to a Discord announcement.
The process will upgrade the weapon being held by the Wizard NFT of the user's choosing, as it did for this NFT, which was also animated after the burn and given a gold "Pirate King Sword."
The floor price on the locks is 10 ETH, though there have been no sales above 3.5 ETH in the past five months. The Sacred Flame floor price is 3.64 ETH.
The floor price on the main Wizards collection is 1 ETH after spending most of the first quarter of the year in the 2-3 ETH range.
"Forgotten Runes holders have a non-exclusive commercial right to the character in their NFT," says Dotta, the creator of the Forgotten Runes Wizard's Cult.
The non-exclusive commercial right is carefully worded, according to Dotta. This allows the Forgotten Runes team to include any of its characters in upcoming works or expansions of the Forgotten Runes "Runiverse" whether or not the team owns the corresponding NFT.
The team is using this non-exclusive commercial right as they build an animated series with John Wick writer, Derek Kolstad.
The clarification thread comes amidst lots of conversation surrounding holder rights and licensing, but Dotta suggests the approach taken by Forgotten Runes is the best way for a project to monetize its IP.
Forgotten Runes recently raised a funding round, headlined by Alexis Ohanian's 776, to build out its Runiverse and continue expanding its decentralized IP.
The project's genesis NFT collection, Forgotten Runes Wizard's Cult, trended down 13 percent this week to a 1.43 ETH floor price. Only 243 of the 10,000 NFTs in the collection are currently listed for sale.
Forgotten Runes announced that a snapshot was taken on Friday afternoon. The snapshot included all beast, spawn, wizard, warrior, soul, and pony owners as well as NFTX vault holders. The announcement included a video showing the Magic Machine Comic in which the snapshot was taken for.
Forgotten Runes Warriors will now instantly reveal upon mint according to a tweet from the project on Friday afternoon.
More than 10,000 Warriors still remain to be minted at a cost of 0.6 ETH each. Users who do not care to mint their own Warrior may buy Warriors on the secondary market for less than the cost of mint.
The current floor price is 0.5 ETH.
