Punk6529 Introduces Major Allowlist Tool
Logan Hitchcock

Punk6529 and the MEMES team introduced EMMA, an innovative tool designed for managing multiphase allowlists in NFTs.

The Deets

  • EMMA is a tool for automating the allowlist process, reduces manual workload.
  • With experience in over 150 allowlisted mints, The Memes identified the need for efficient allowlist management.
  • The Memes team introduces Janus, a domain-specific language for allowlists, and EMMA as its first reference implementation.
  • EMMA is open-source, aiming to democratize the allowlist process for the entire NFT community.

The Bulk

Well-known for a dedication to allowlists, Punk6529 and team recognized the potential challenges artists face in deciding who gets to mint their NFTs. Historically, popular artists and galleries would reserve new work for specific audiences before opening up to the general public. Drawing from their vast experience with more than 150 allowlisted mints, each spanning three phases and multiple snapshots, they've identified the complexities involved in the process. To tackle this, they developed a domain-specific language for allowlists, dubbed Janus. EMMA, an innovative tool, serves as Janus' first reference implementation.

In an era where manual allowlist management could consume significant time and resources, they took the initiative to automate the process. True to their mission of reaching 100M people using NFTs in an open metaverse, they chose to offer EMMA as an open-source tool, hoping it would solve the allowlist challenges for all.

Botto Does First Large Edition to Close Memes SZN 3
Logan Hitchcock

Botto, the autonomous AI artist, generated its first large edition as a contribution to the third season of the 6529 Meme Cards.

The Deets

  • First large edition by Botto, totalling 365 cards
  • Botto's AI-powered creation process follows a closed-loop mechanism without human intervention
  • The BottoDAO community voted on the card theme, "Seize the Memes of Production"
  • The artwork, titled "Socially Umpired Animals," is accompanied by Botto's metadata traits recommendations

The Bulk

Renowned as an autonomous AI artist, Botto is contributing its first large edition piece to the 6529 Meme Cards' third season. This unique edition counts 365 cards, each showcasing the AI's creation process.

The art engine that powers Botto follows a closed-loop mechanism, devoid of any human intervention. It operates by feeding generated prompts into text-to-image models, producing over 8,000 images every week. Botto's taste model then evaluates these pieces, choosing the most aesthetically pleasing ones.

Despite receiving countless prompts, Botto upholds its autonomous nature by not taking external suggestions. For this special edition, the themes for the third season were given to Botto's taste model. The model then curated the best 200 matching images for each theme from its repository of over a million unreleased creations.

Ultimately, the theme that stood out the most, according to Botto's taste model, was "Seize the Memes of Production." This selection was then put up for a community vote, wherein BottoDAO members chose the most compelling artwork for the final mint.

The end result is a thought-provoking work, titled "Socially Umpired Animals." This piece presents potential symbols like Harambe, Marx, multiple feet/legs, and Magritte's Pipe, presenting a rich and deep history.

I have many frameworks on The Memes but one of my frameworks is that, some day, they will be a record, sealed in time, of all/almost all the interesting NFT artists working now in this nascent time.In this spirit, I ask myself what vibe have I felt this SZN..And the overwhelming vibe across twitter and the technology space has been AI. So I want to seal this SZN this way.Punk6529

Punk6529 Looks Ahead to Full SZN3 of Memes
Logan Hitchcock

The Memes by Punk6529 ushers in Season 3 (SZN3) with fresh artists, expanding experimentation, and new developments which kicked off with a card drop from DeeKay Motion.

The Deets

  • SZN3 features a fully booked roster of diverse artists
  • Meme Lab to see increased experimentation and drops
  • Launch of NFT Delegation for unique delegation and consolidation approach
  • Focus on public tooling: NFT Delegation, wallet safety, self-service allowlist/minting tools, and ReMemes "Discovery"
  • Encouragement for community involvement in ambitious projects and GDRC outreach

The Details

As The Memes enters SZN3, there's a lot to look forward to. With a fully booked roster of artists, the platform will continue to showcase a diverse mix of well-established and emerging creators, working in various styles, starting with notable creator DeeKay Motion. The focus remains on promoting different artistic approaches to increase the chances of pieces going viral and reaching new audiences and communities.

Meme Lab, the experimental playground for Meme Card artists, is expected to gain momentum in SZN3, with an increase in the number of drops as artists explore the platform and operations scale up. The Memes encourages more experimentation in Meme Lab to push the boundaries of creative expression.

In SZN3, The Memes is also launching NFT Delegation, a unique take on delegation and consolidation in the NFT space. This open-source project will be available for free use, with more details to be shared in an upcoming thread.

The upcoming season will see an emphasis on public tooling, with a focus on NFT Delegation, wallet safety, self-service allowlist/minting tools, and "Discovery" for ReMemes. The Memes hopes the community will engage in more ambitious projects, support the Global Digital Rights Charter (GDRC) outreach, and take a bolder approach to ReMemes and Meme Labs.

❗️Why It Matters

While Meme Cards may not be dominating attention like they were at the beginning of the year, Punk6529 maintains a long-term vision and goal to reach the masses via CC0 works and memes. Greater experimentation and additional entry points should only improve the ecosystem's ability to engage with new communities and as the legend grows, so does the interest for creators to work with the project. The entire third SZN is already booked and the team has started working on slotting artists and creators for SZN 4 before the first card even dropped.

Elon Tweets Meme Card
Logan Hitchcock

Elon Musk created a frenzy on Twitter today, changing the Twitter logo in places to Doge's Shiba Inu and later tweeting a Meme Card from Season 1 of Punk6529's collection

Why It Matters

Fundamentally there is no significance to either move, but in a market predominantly driven by attention and speculation there is perhaps no one more capable of moving markets. Shortly after the Doge discovery the price of $DOGE rocketed nearly 30 percent and within minutes of the Meme Card tweet, the piece was trading for more than 2 ETH. Markets know no bounds when Musk gets involved.

📊 By The Numbers

Just three days ago, SeizeJPGs traded multiple times for 0.5 ETH. The collection just registered an 8 ETH sale (a 16x) in the wake of the Musk tweet.

punk6529 Announces POAP Airdrop for Meme Card Holders
Bill Monighetti

@punk6529 announced his Meme Lab project will airdrop POAPs to 5,000+ SZN1 Meme Card holders, sparking a debate on the value of Soul Bound Tokens (SBTs) this afternoon.

🔎 The Deets

  • A POAP (Proof of Attendance Protocol) was airdropped to 5,000+ addresses that held a SZN1 Meme Card at the end of 2022 (though 6529 mentioned the airdrop was still in progress in their tweet).
  • In the tweet thread, @punk6529 argues that movable POAPs provide useful information, and there's no harm in buying or selling them. Traditionally, POAPs have not been items that frequently transact on secondary marketplaces, but @punk6529 sees no issue with buying/selling POAPs. 6529 compares POAPs to program schedules in the physical art world, which are sometimes traded, particularly when they are signed by artists.
  • To further the point, 6529 calls back to the project's policy of having the "Freedom to transact," adding it would not make sense to have POAPs in the ecosystem that are non-transactable.

🎬 Take Action

  • If you held a SZN1 Meme Card on December 28, 2022, keep an eye out for the POAP airdrop in your wallet.

This is the kind of thing that someone might say 'but if they can move it or sell it, unfair, it should be bound to the address, like your soul, in a medieval horror novel!' And I will say to that: 'this type of nonsense, 6529 will not allow anywhere I get to choose.'@punk6529

6529 Releases the Global Rights Charter v1 (GDRC 1)
Julian Son

Today, 6529 announced the release of the Global Digital Rights Charter v1 (GDRC 1).

❗ Why It Matters

6529 describes the GDRC as a statement of human rights in the digital realm. And it feels more pertinent than ever given what's happened in the last week, not just the SVB situation but also the US administration's proposals around doubling the capital gains tax rate, instituting a 30% excise tax on the cost of powering crypto, and classifying ETH as a security.

🔍 Need to Know

  • The GDRC 1 NFT is a video that highlights the text of the GDRC 1 and was made by @6529er.
  • Free to mint (+ gas), available in unlimited quantities. No royalties and it is CC0.
  • The original draft was written by 6529 in summer 2022, and the current version was improved with the help of input from dozens of other people from various backgrounds and fields.

Here is something to raise your spirits in tough times. This charter is extremely important, and we all need to feel ownership over making it great. Our digital future just might depend on it. This charter is not @punk6529's, it is all of ours.Ned Ryerson

🔜 What’s Next?

  • 6529 noted that he would see what comes from the community over the next few months and perhaps release GDRC 1.1 or GDRC 2.0.
  • He would like everyone around the world to continue to iterate on GDRC v1 via Github and contribute adaptations, translations, and so on.
  • And if you agree with the principles of the Global Digital Rights Charter, 6529 encourages you to share GDRC 1 with friends, family, colleagues, and politicians, as it's about spreading awareness throughout society.

The Memes by 6529 are getting a new exploratory home and website at seize.io, according to a tweet from Punk6529

❗Why It Matters

Most users explore NFT collections on marketplaces...which are notoriously bad at displaying relevant collectoin details and background information, or in the case of Blur - even bad at displaying the art (yes, I know, it recently deployed Collector's Mode). Now, users will be able to easily explore each Meme card and all relevant details all in one spot without distraction.

Beyond the Meme exploration, projects are often reliant on disparate homes for information sharing. A public Discord, Twitter, and beyond. The newest home will provide all necessary resources for those participating in or curious about the Meme ecosystem.

The Deets

Punk6529 shared a handful of other notes in his detailed thread:

For the time being, published allowlist for Meme Card drops will remain on 6529.io.

🔜 What’s Next?

Beyond continued website migration, Punk6529 indicated that the next step is "to implement on-chain delegation and consolidation in the coming weeks."

The Next Meme Card Artist May Be Notable
Bill Monighetti

@punk6529 introduced Vincent Van Dough (VVD) as the artist of tomorrow's card in the Memes by 6529 collection in trolling fashion this morning.

❗ Why it Matters

VVD is one of the most notable collectors in the space, who has recently become more involved on the creator side. In late January, VVD dropped his Checks -- Pepe Edition open edition, drawing inspiration from Jack Butcher's popular Checks -- VV open edition project. Over the weekend, it was announced that Checks -- Pepe Edition NFTs would serve as entry tickets into Notable Pepes, a "Memes by 6529"-like art ecosystem that VVD is leading.

📅 Prepare for the Drop

  • While we do not yet have the mint details, drops in this collection typically occur at 11:00 AM ET here.
  • The ability to mint cards in this series is typically restricted to an allowlist, which is comprised of holders of works by 6529 and the featured artist.

🎤 Founder Feedback

One of the nice things about the meme cards is that you can learn about emerging artists who you might not have noticed previously. In that light, I would like to introduce tomorrow's meme card artist @Vince_Van_Dough. Lets welcome VVD to the world of NFTs.@punk6529

The Next Meme Card Artist May Be Notable
Meme Lab Opening for Experimentation Soon
Julian Son

Punk6529 announced that the first Meme Lab minting will go live on Tuesday, Feb. 14.

🧐 Wait, What?

The Meme Lab is a contract for official Meme Cards artists to experiment under the OM/Memes umbrella. Beyond that - in 6529's own words - "there basically is no framework."

❗ Why It Matters

Not only will this give existing Meme Card artists a platform to build out their Meme Cards further, but in some instances, it could also serve as a lower price point entry into the Memes ecosystem. In any case, it represents another opportunity to Seize the Memes.
