Latest Punks Comic News
The PUNKS Comic team published a blog post this afternoon sharing a variety of updates for their upcoming PUNKS PFP, PUNKS Comic Set 1, and future plans for the project.
Punks PFPs
The PUNKS PFPs are expected to launch in 2023, and they will be a free claim for holders of PUNKS Comic Issues #1-3.
PUNKS Comics
Regarding PUNKS Comic Set 1, there will be 3 additional comics coming in 2023 to complete the set. There will be no charge for those new issues #4-6, and they will only be mintable via a burn mechanic. That burn mechanic will be cumulative, meaning higher total burn counts for each future issue.
Here's how it will work:
- PUNKS Comic Issue #4 can be minted by burning copies of Issue #2 + Issue #3
- PUNKS Comic Issue #5 can be minted by burning copies of Issue #2 + Issue #3 + Issue #4
- PUNKS Comic Issue #6 can be minted by burning copies of Issue #2 + Issue #3 + Issue #4 + Issue #5
Holders of the PixelPass tokens will be airdropped collector's editions of Issues #4-6 without a burn.
This new burn mechanic is quite the change and brings some new game theory into the project. It seems likely that Issue #6 will have the lowest supply, given the cumulative burn - but that is not a guarantee. Issue #2 and Issue #3 should see their supplies reduced fairly substantially as well, being a requirement of each of the burns.
At the time of writing, the PUNKS Comic floor is 0.038 ETH for Issue #3. Issue #2 holds a 0.096 ETH floor, and Issue #1 is at 1.24 ETH.
PUNKS Comic Physicals
The claim for physical comics for Issues #2-6 will not take place until after Issue #6 has been minted. This will allow for the supplies of each Issue to be determined and settled, after the completion of each of the burns.
Holders of the full set of PUNKS Comic NFTs will qualify for a full physical bound copy of the Comic Set 1.
Community Reaction
Early comments and community sentiment seem positive, as it appears that the Punks Comic team is listening and reacting to feedback. The move to free mint via burns is a notable change from the release of Comics #1-3, which were paid mints. Comic #3 especially led to some community outrage over the team charging too much and not delivering enough for the price.
Pixel Vault opened its merchandise shop on Monday afternoon. The shop will be open for 48 hours or until supplies have sold out.

Pixel Vault opened its own marketplace according to a recent tweet from the team.
The Pixel Vault marketplace will feature aggregated listings from Rarible and OpenSea at this current time. Users can list any NFT in the Pixel Vault ecosystem directly through the marketplace and they do not have to pay marketplace royalties when selling the NFT through the official Pixel Vault marketplace.
Pixel Vault will be using community feedback to update certain aspects of the platform and announced there will be "more features to come in future releases."
PUNKS Comics recently released its Origin Stories #3 comic book issue, which features Agent Ivanova and Hilary.
"Following the events of PUNKS 3, a frustrated Agent Ivanova returns to the office," the comic's description reads. "Meanwhile, the PUNKS crew hatches a plan to use Hilary, who shares a past with the FBI agent, to help get her off their back. But will the plan work or further enrage the fiery, hotshot Agent?"
The comic book is free to read for all PUNKS Comic holders, but to receive the NFT version, holders will have to burn Issue #1 or Issue #2. There are currently 5,075 Issue #1 comics, 823 Issue #2 comics, and four Issue #3 comics.
All Origin Stories comics will only be mintable via burning a comic book issue from the original set.
"Pixel Vault is introducing a new minting dynamic for Origin Stories ... bringing back the game theory that our community was built on," the blog post for Issue #2 reads.
The game theory continues into Issue #3. Collectors can only burn forward, but may skip certain editions. Dedicated collectors will receive a premium bound volume of all eight stories if they complete the entire set.
Odious, a co-founder of MetaHero, released a public statement to give updates on the project and its ecosystem in a tweet earlier this evening.
Thanks to the help from Blur Studio, Pixel Vault has "grown the creative team to include long-form writers, concept artists, and a production house who are collectively driving the evolution of the MetaHero Universe."
In June 2022, the project announced a one-year timeline to produce an animated show but has shifted from the plan to focus more on "delivering our first gaming experiences."
There were also a handful of product updates such as the team ensuring that DOTs will make MintPass 2 tokens "exponentially deflationary over time," the team building its own style guide for a rebrand, and assurance that even though new iterations of the MetaHero PFP will occur over time current holders will keep their "Chris Wahl MetaHero designs."
Odious also touched more on the upcoming game for MetaHero stating that the community will have a direct impact on the game's evolution and a reminder that the game will be built and funded by Pixel Vault. The team assures holders that it has teamed up with a "seasoned gaming partner to create an immersive experience for your MetaHeroes."
Lastly, Odious announced that not Chris Wahl, but an unannounced artist, will be creating the upcoming comics for Pixel Vault.
"Apes Out on the Town," a new comic from Pixel Vault, is set to mint July 21, the project announced on Twitter Monday.
The comic is a free mint for holders of Elite Ape Entry Coins and can be claimed by burning the coins from July 21-28. Those that entered a Bored Ape Yacht Club NFT into the Ape Madness contest can also claim a free NFT drawn by Pixel Vault artist Christ Wahl.
Elite Ape Entry Coins have a floor price of 0.084 ETH.
PUNKS Comic #3, "A Glitch in Time" has officially begun its minting via the official PUNKS Comic site.
The mint is taking place in four phases for select NFT holders, each lasting two hours.
The first phase, which is now open, allows holders of early Pixel Vault NFTs like PUNKS Issue #1 and MintPass #1. Phase two will go live at approximately 1:00 p.m. ET.
The PUNKS Comic #3 mint includes a unique "glitched" experience whereby users are able may end up with a variety of outputs, including the Founder's DAO tokens, MetaHero Identities, and more.
On the PUNKS Comic minting site, users can see exactly how many unique items remain in the glitched portal. After approximately 30 minutes of minting, four of the 12 MetaHero Core Identities have been claimed.
For more information on the mint, phases, and probabilities, refer to the formal mint guide from the Pixel Vault team.
Pixel Vault announced the upcoming release of its third PUNKS comic, "A Glitch in Time," via tweet this morning.
The comic, which will be the first to feature MetaHero Identities, is the last of the comic of the trilogy that will be required to complete the Genesis PUNKS Comic set.
Users who collect each of the first three comics will be able to redeem a free PUNKS PFP NFT later this year. According to the release, the PUNKS PFP will be an access pass to all PUNKS content moving forward.
PUNKS Comic 3 will mint for 0.2 ETH, but with some unique features during the minting process. Upon minting, some users may notice the minting portal "glitch" sending them back a Pixel Vault relic instead of the third comic.
A full set of available assets is detailed in the release, but minters that don't end up with a PUNKS Comic 3 will instead be able to return Pixel Vault Founders DAO tokens, Generative Identities, and more.
Minting will open this Friday, July 1 with four distinct minting windows. A snapshot for eligible participants will take place on Wednesday, June 29 at 11 a.m. ET.
For more information, refer to the project's official release.
Punks Comic announced in a medium article on Friday that Origin Stories, Issue #2 will be released on June 13. The focus of the new comic issue will be on the story behind "The Skull." To obtain and issue, collectors must burn a copy of Origin Stories, Issue #1.
The full collection of Origin Stories will be released in two sets split between Issues 1–8 and Issues 9–16. Future Origin Stories will be obtainable through the same burn forward method. For example, Issue #1 can be burned to obtain Issue #3 but Issue #3 cannot be burned to obtain Issue #2.
