Memeland Gears Up for MEME Fire Sale
Logan Hitchcock

Memeland announced more details about its exclusive community presale dubbed the "Fire Sale," offering $MEME token lots at a fixed price for a limited duration.

The Deets

  • Event Duration: 28 hours, starting October 25, 2023, 11:00 p.m. ET until October 27, 3:00 a.m. ET.
  • Pricing: Each lot priced at $300, offering 300,000 $MEME.
  • Allocation: Allowlist members guaranteed lots; Waitlist members to participate in a raffle with potential 6.9X boost.
  • Token Claim: $MEME claimable post-Fire Sale, but must be claimed within 14 days or will be refunded.

The Bulk

The long-awaitied Memeland Fire Sale is set to last 28 hours and is designed to give early supporters and community members a unique opportunity to acquire $MEME tokens at a set price of $300 per lot, which consists of 300,000 $MEME.

A significant feature of the Fire Sale is its two-tiered system: the Allowlist and the Waitlist. Members on the Allowlist have a guaranteed allocation, ensuring they can purchase their desired lot without the typical sale frenzy. In contrast, the Waitlist is non-guaranteed and operates on a raffle system. Participants paying within the first hour of the Fire Sale get a boosted chance in the raffle by 6.9 times.

When it comes to tokenomics, the Fire Sale will have a supply of 7,590,000,000 $MEME, representing 11% of the total token supply. The initial unlock on Day 1 will be 2.75% of the total supply. Over the next 18 months, the remaining amount will gradually be made available.

❗Why It Matters

The Memeland community has been waiting a long time for the $MEME token and the upcoming Fire Sale and the initial reactions and execution of the Fire Sale may play a crucial role in determining short-term price action for the Memeland ecosystem NFTs.

💰 Money Talks

The price per $MEME is set at $0.001 based on the initial tokenomics.

🔜 What's Next?

The Memeland community snapshot will take place in approximately one hour at 11:00 a.m. ET. Purchasing NFTs post-snapshot will exclude participants from the Fire Sale but they will retain airdrop rights. Also, all unrevealed Maps and Valuables will be auto-revealed by the system, and generation of Maps, Valuables, and Potions will be temporarily halted.

Memeland Captainz Get Refreshed, Bug Bounties Introduced
Logan Hitchcock

Memeland announced changes to its Captainz NFTs, resetting their visuals after unstaking and offering a bug bounty program for necessary changes.

The Deets

  • Unstaking a Captainz NFT resets it to its baby look; traits are kept but not shown
  • This change targets reducing incorrect purchases due to delayed image updates on marketplaces
  • Bug bounty introduced to reward community participation in improving the system
  • The change and bounty program exemplify Memeland's commitment to user transparency and community engagement

The Bulk

Digital asset platform, Memeland, is introducing key modifications to their Captainz Non-Fungible Tokens (NFTs). The core change involves the aesthetics of Captainz NFTs being reset to their original, baby look after unstaking. This adjustment does not affect the traits of the NFTs, which remain intact but hidden from the image.

Memeland has identified that NFT marketplaces often use a caching system for images, which can lead to lags in updating visuals. Consequently, this could mislead potential buyers, especially in the case of Memeland's Smart PFP system, where a seller might have sold a rare trait still depicted on the listed Captainz.

To combat this issue and maintain integrity in transactions, Memeland is proactively resetting the visuals of unstaked NFTs to prevent incorrect purchases. The process will be automated within the system, and users are urged to check their dashboard on the official website before any transactions.

Moreover, Memeland has instated a bug bounty program, encouraging users to report any glitches or discrepancies. As an example, one holder, "shinraton," reported a bug regarding an Alien's clothing trait and received a bounty of 0.069Ξ for their contribution.

📊 By the Numbers

Alongisde the rest of the market, post-reveal, Memeland's Captainz dropped 18% in the last week to 6.06 ETH.

Memeland announced it will teleburn 111 of its MVPs from its treasury to Ordinals to celebrate their one-year anniversary.

The Deets

  • The teleburn involves the highest-valued NFT in the Memeland ecosystem.
  • Memeland plans to establish a collective of top builders, artists, and collectors on Ordinals.
  • Further announcements, including the Captainz reveal, the $MEME launch, and a new minting event, are expected soon.

The Bulk

Memeland will ring in its first anniversary with a historic move. The project is planning to teleburn, or transport 111 MVPs from Ethereum to Bitcoin.

This teleburn holds significance as it's the highest-valued and first official one of its kind, reflecting Memeland's commitment to bold and innovative actions. These MVPs, initially minted at 5.3 ETH a year ago, have seen their value move above 50 ETH today.

Memeland has more developments lined up to be unveiled soon, including Captainz reveal, the launch of $MEME, and more.

❗️Why It Matters

Aside from Yuga Labs' Twelvefold, none of the top NFT ecosystems on ETH have made the daring move over to the Bitcoin blockchain.

📊 By the Numbers

Memeland's MVP have increased tenfold in the last year. With a mint price tagged as "expensive" and a supply of just 111, the total estimated value of the teleburn stands at approximately 6,438 ETH, translating to around $10.6 million.

Memeland Sailing to Bitcoin
$MEME Will Set Sail Soon (Probably)
Austin Ketterling

The CEO of 9GAG confirmed plans to launch $MEME token, with a focus on building a secure and sustainable web3 company.

The Deets

  • $MEME launch confirmed by 9GAG's CEO...coming soon (probably)
  • $MEME aims to make Memeland a leading web3 company
  • Memeland exercising extreme focus on compliance with legal standards, recognizing the risk many tokens face

The Bulk

The launch of $MEME Coin forms part of a broader strategy to position Memeland as a top web3 company. Acknowledging the risks associated with tokens that have poor legal structures, the 9GAG affirmed his commitment to creating a secure and legally-compliant token. This sentiment was echoed in Memeland's announcement that they would be partnering with Tju Liang Chua, head of blockchain & digital assets at Drew & Napier, and the General Counsel of the Ethereum Foundation, for its corporate matters.

🎤 Founder Feedback:

We must plan and act accordingly when our goal is to make @Memeland a top web3 company and @memecoin a top token... It's not worth it for us to have a little more money but become criminals or fugitives. We must ensure that our actions are legally sound for our family, team, and community.9GAG CEO

$MEME Will Set Sail Soon (Probably)
Memeland Season 1 of Raids Now Live
Julian Son

Memeland announced today that Season 1 of Raids is live, via Twitter and on Discord.

The Details

Key changes vs. the pilot season:

  • Your Booty = Your Raid Points / Total Raid Points
  • The top 9 leaders enjoy a multiplier on their Raid Points
  • Everyone who joins the Raids will win some booty
  • Raid rates are changed to Win 45%, Loss 48.1%, and Broken Seas (burned) 6.9%
  • Your Captainz will earn Experience Points (EXP) to show how "battle-tested" they are
  • Every Captainz who joined the Season 0 (aka Pilot Season) received 69 EXP

❗ Why It Matters

The raiding dynamic piqued the interest of many when it was introduced two weeks ago, even though raiding was seen as a risky venture in which seemingly many reported losing their maps during the pilot season. Now, season 1 is here with some refinements.

This news is also perhaps the reason for some of the Captainz sweeps earlier today.

Meme Coin Teases $MEME Tokenomics
Julian Son

Meme Coin tweeted about $MEME tokenomics, but the categories were all redacted besides the 69% distribution for the community.

❗ Why It Matters

This is about all we have to go off of for now, since we don't know much else. Are mapz related to $MEME? What would a distribution split look like across the Memeland collections (MVP, Captainz, and Potatoz)? There are just more questions than answers at this point.

So while NFTs have mostly taken a backseat over the past couple of weeks, with various memecoins dominating the spotlight, this is a reminder to not forget about the $MEME coin, which remains a highly anticipated token that many are painfully bullish about.

Captainz Plunder: Raid for Maps on the High Seas
Julian Son

Captainz now have the ability to join raids and steal Maps from other Captainz, per Memeland's tweet today.

The Details

  • Joining raids will allow you to steal Maps, but other raiding Captainz will also have the chance to steal your Maps as well.
  • Raids require a Captainz to hold at least 1 Special or Extraordinary Map.
  • When a Captainz joins the raid, they have a 40% chance to win a Special or Extraordinary Map, a 50% chance of losing their Map to the other Captainz, and a 10% chance of the Map being lost in the Broken Seas (burned).
  • Note that Memeland is test-running the pilot season of raids for 1 week, and there will be no prizes during the pilot season. The pilot season will be closely monitored to adjust the rules if necessary.
  • The raid points are reset every season.

❗ Why It Matters

Memeland is masterful at finding ways to engage with the community, and their latest move is to empower Captainz to raid. As Memeland so eloquently puts it, this is the pirate's way, and fortune favors the bold. So you can raid for whatever reason: if you're unhappy with the Mapz you got this week, need to settle a feud, or are just bored.

Raiding allows Captainz holders to take part in a game of chance centered around Maps, a key part of the Memeland ecosystem that can be earned every 7 days by Captainz who go questing. The upside of stealing a plundered Map will have to be weighed against the corresponding downside of possibly losing a Map to other raiding Captainz, or even being burned.

The dynamic is reminiscent of the mechanism in the earliest days of Wolf Game, in which wolves were able to accrue a ‘tax’ from sheep as well as steal newly minted NFTs. At their core, many in the NFT space are also gamblers who chase tantalizing rewards, so this will no doubt be a welcome new feature.

Captainz Plunder: Raid for Maps on the High Seas
Memeland Teases That a "GmShow" Is Coming Soon
Julian Son

Today, Memeland tweeted that a "GmShow ☕" is coming soon.

What It Means

It's unclear when the show will debut, what the format will be, or even what the timing of the show would be as far as its time slot (given that 9GAG's CEO Ray Chan is based in Asia, in a very different time zone), but it will be something to watch out for.

❗ Why It Matters

A Memeland morning show would allow the Memeland empire to continue to expand its brand and reach even further, as @9GAG currently has 16.9 million Twitter followers and a ~200M monthly audience. Assuming that Ray is serious, of course (and there's no indication he's joking, as Memeland even owns the domain for GmShow.com), and it would make sense given that the Memeland project said a month ago that it was already building out a few other SocialFi products.

🖼️ The Big Picture

Audience numbers for web3 morning shows on Twitter Spaces took a hit after Ryan Carson left the Daily Dose and stepped away from web3 in February, although Zeneca's ZenDaily, Rug Radio's GM Web3, and Nifty Portal's The NFT Morning Show have all stepped up admirably to fill the void.

Memeland Teases That a "GmShow" Is Coming Soon
Memeland Doubling Down on ETH
Logan Hitchcock

Memeland announces plans to set up 69 validators for Ethereum's upcoming Shapella hard fork on April 12.

The Deets

  • Memeland holds most of its treasury in ETH
  • Plans to set up 69 validators to help secure Ethereum network, earn rewards, and "dogfood Stakeland"

The Details

As Ethereum's Shanghai upgrade approaches, Memeland, a company dedicated to building in the web3 space, has announced its intention to set up 69 validators for the Ethereum network. This decision stems from the company's belief in the potential of Ethereum and the fact that most of its treasury is held in cryptocurrency, primarily in ETH.

Memeland has outlined three main reasons for setting up these validators: helping to secure the Ethereum network, generating operating revenue through earned rewards, and "dogfooding" Stakeland, their in-development project, before its public launch. More details on this bold move are expected to be shared soon.

Why It Matters

In a landscape ripe with migrating projects (DeGods, y00ts), real-life bank scares (SVB and beyond)Memeland has taken a different approach, more or less doubling down and committing to its future on ETH and the success of the Ethereum blockchain. While the company will now be actively participating in securing the network and earning rewards highlights the potential for increased adoption and integration of web3 technologies, it's also testing its own new product "Stakeland" in the process.

The Stakeland Twitter was created in July 2022, but no details have been released yet. One can only assume it maybe some sort of staking service, prehaps for staking ETH (or other currencies). Memeland is not a staking rookie, as the project is also staking a significant amount of $APE, which it's providing back to questers as rewards.

9GAG Files "Proof of Fandom" Trademark Application
Bill Monighetti

9GAG, the company behind Memeland, has filed a trademark application with the United States Patent and Trademark Office involving "digital tokens as proof of fandom," as pointed out by trademark and copyright attorney NeerMcD.eth this morning.

❗ Why It Matters

The trademark application offers a glimpse into the future plans of one of the space's largest brands.

🔎 The Deets

Mentioned in the application are the following items:

  • Providing an online non-downloadable computer software platform for the creation and distribution of digital tokens as the proof of fandom.
  • Online non-downloadable computer software platform for customization of digital token metadata and enabling selectable distribution methods for digital tokens.
  • Platform as a service and software as a service featuring software platforms for providing access to fandom groups, social media, virtual environments, digital arts, crypto-collectibles, non-fungible tokens, application tokens and digital currencies.
  • Administration of a customer loyalty program that provides rewards.

So what exactly does 9GAG have in mind here? 9GAGCEO was tight-lipped on the issue:
