NFT Market Report | The Art Gobblers Descent Continues
Logan Hitchcock

One week after its mint, Art Gobblers is down more than 60 percent from its highs according to Blur.io, the NFT aggregator and marketplace where the bulk of the Art Gobblers trading has taken place.

The floor price reached a high of 20.42 ETH according to our data but at the time of writing the floor price stands at just 4.80 ETH on Blur and 5.49 ETH on OpenSea, respectively.

Despite the volatility in floor price, more than 30,000 ETH in secondary trading volume has exchanged hands during that time, more than four times KPR the next highest traded NFT collection during the last seven days.

At this time, only 1,981 Art Gobblers NFTs have officially been minted, leaving room for another 8,000 NFTs to be minted gradually over a long time frame, utilizing the Art Gobblers' unique Dutch auction mint mechanic.

Since its launch, the collection has turned live its Paint Factory and collectors are earning $GOO, the project's native token.

But that too has dropped precipitously from an all-time high of $3,591 to $29.52 at the time of writing, according to CoinGecko

Tyler Warner's NFT Market Summary

NFT trading volume has been falling daily since the mega-liquidity injection of the Art Gobblers mint on Monday, with Blur now taking the leading market share two days in a row.

Art Gobblers led volume again, though sales, GOO, and the Gobbler floor have all dropped significantly. The collection did 3,400 ETH volume, of which ~90 percent was done on Blur. The Gobbler floor is down to 8.3 ETH (-39%), likely tied to the rapidly falling GOO price ($222 at the time of writing, down another 60 percent). The reason for Blur's dominance has clearly been tied to 0 fees, and optional royalties; and the data is now surfacing showing that 83 percent of Blur transactions are avoiding royalties.

KPR completed its General Sale and notched another 2,300 ETH volume on the day, with the floor holding at 0.62 ETH (-2%) this morning ahead of today's reveal. CryptoPunks saw 1,340 ETH volume across 15 sales, leading non-Blur trading (67 ETH floor), and BAYC did 500 ETH volume with its floor steady at 65 ETH. Yuga also "turned ON" the Meebits, which led to their floor jumping about 10 percent before retracing to 3.4 ETH (+6%).

Art Blocks had a day for the history books, as their free mint Friendships Bracelets launched as a gift to the community. Over 11,000 Bracelets have been minted already, holding a 0.07 ETH floor with 410 ETH volume. It's now the biggest Art Blocks collection and is expected to reach a potential supply as high as ~70,000. Squiggles were up 9 percent on the day, reaching an 18 ETH floor and a new ETH all-time high. Other Art Blocks winners included Memories of Qilin, up 26 percent to 8 ETH.

In other news, SuperRare is launching its "Rarepass: Genesis" providing access to the leading digital artists, and Instagram announced the first dozen artists helping to integrate NFTs on its platform. The Knights of Degen have officially acquired LeagueDAO, an NFT-powered fantasy sports product, furthering its mission to be the fastest-growing sports gaming community in web3. And OpenSea released 3 new feature updates, as they have been outpaced by Blur for the 2nd day in a row.

Upcoming NFT Mints and Reveals

  • Art Blocks Presents "Structures" by Hevey (1:00 p.m. ET)
  • Historical Figures Series IV (4:00 p.m. ET)
  • y00ts - reveal (Live, every 3 minutes)
  • KPRVerse - reveal (TBD)

Today is a big reveal day, with y00ts from Frank DeGod surprisingly starting to reveal this morning. Those who have waited weeks for this reveal will have to wait a bit more though, as the reveal is happening once every 3 minutes right now versus all at once. The other big reveal is KPR, which has been the second biggest mover this week with over 5,000 ETH volume. Today's KPR reveal should be the liquidity event of the day. The wild card is the Art Blocks "Structures" mint, which is a bit pricey at 0.2 ETH fixed, but given Art Blocks tailwinds it could see some added volume.

Art Gobblers Addresses Two Post-Reveal Issues
Staff Writer

The Art Gobblers website was "incorrectly flagged as suspicious" in MetaMask transactions and the project's Discord kicked out community members recently, the project announced Thursday on Twitter.

"Some players are receiving warnings from their browser or wallet when connecting to artgobblers.com, or cannot connect at all," the project said. "...The heroes at @metamask have been working since yesterday to resolve this issue, both on their end and with partners."

The Discord bot that kicked out "legitimate" members who didn't fully verify their holdings has been removed, the project said, and users are free to rejoin the Discord.

Blur Beats OpenSea Two Days in a Row
Tyler Warner

New NFT marketplace Blur has beaten OpenSea in total trading volume for the second day in a row, according to a tweet from their account this morning and confirmed by notable NFT statistician "NFT Statistics" (@Punk9059).

Blur tallied 12,000 ETH volume on the day, compared to OpenSea's 8,700 ETH. This is now the second day in a row Blur has outpaced OpenSea, winning the battle on Tuesday by a more narrow margin, 9,700 ETH to 9,600 ETH.

The main contributor to Blur's newfound supremacy has been Art Gobblers, which has seen ~75 percent of its trading take place on Blur. Interestingly, Art Gobblers is backed by the fund Paradigm, which is also a lead investor in Blur.

A primary reason for Blur's volume is its zero-fee and royalty-optional listing structure. Traders have the option to toggle default royalties down to zero, and the platform does not take a cut (compared to a 2.5 percent fee on OpenSea). Thus, a 15 ETH Art Gobbler sale would net a seller on Blur 1.41 more ETH (~$2,200).

The lack of fees, especially on high-value assets, makes a big difference. It will be interesting to monitor how Blur's market share continues to hold up once Art Gobblers' revenue inevitably starts to decline.

GOO Price Falling Fast, Gobblers Dip
Tyler Warner

The native Art Gobblers token GOO has fallen over 50 percent in overnight and morning trading, now around $670, according to data from dextools

The price reached $3,000+ at its peak yesterday before ranging between $1,000-$1,500 for most of the day. The price started dipping in the early hours this morning, falling below the $1,000 level and not recovering.

This should not come as a surprise to holders or traders, as the team warned the community explicitly about the exponential emission schedule for the token and how rapidly it would inflate.

With the new GOO price, the current cost to mint a Gobbler is $22,700 (14.8 ETH). The Blur market is generally aligning with this pricing, with the floor at 15.2 ETH at the time of writing. This is more than a 50 percent dip from local highs yesterday, which eclipsed 22 ETH.

The system is working and being used though, as 5 Gobblers have been minted now and 29 Blank Pages. The first artwork has been ingested into a Gobblers belly as well.

The First Art Gobblers Page Is 'Glaminated'
Tyler Warner

The very first Art Gobbler artwork has been created this afternoon, according to a tweet from the artist and verified by the Art Gobbler team.

The artist 0010 (@dhjs_0010) created the piece through the "glamination" process, with help from the rwx foundation (@robek_world). It was created on the second page ever created, Page #2, and can be viewed here.

The art is very much in line with 0010's distinctive style, which has commanded 146 ETH in sales on SuperRare and holds a 7.777 ETH standing floor price.

And with this mint, Art Gobblers production has officially begun.

Art Gobblers Paint Factory Is Live!
Tyler Warner

The Art Gobblers Paint Factory is officially live, according to a tweet from the team's account this afternoon.

The Gobblers PFP NFTs have caught the market by storm, trading an incredible 31,000+ ETH in the first two days of secondary trading. The Gobblers have had a roller coaster morning, running from ~13 ETH to 22 ETH, before retracing to 16.69 ETH at the time of writing.

But the PFPs are only one part of the overall project, with the art and Blank Pages being an equally important part. That art component officially goes live today.

With the factory live, users can track the live price of ongoing Gobbler auctions, Blank Pages auctions, a holder leaderboard, and more at this dashboard. The price of the $GOO token can be found here (currently $1,430).

The current price of Pages is 2.16 GOO ($3,090 or roughly 2 ETH), and for new Gobblers, the price is 36 GOO ($51,480 or 32.7 ETH). The GOO supply will be increasing exponentially, though, so those prices will come down in USD terms.

The team did note some early feedback of the site malfunctioning but pointed users to their contracts which are live and valid.
