The Red Village Tournaments are already live in 3D beta, paying out more than $500,000 with its play-to-earn mechanic.

"Games like The Red Village provide an experience that conventional gamers are familiar with, and will lead the charge as players search for games that are both fun and also an opportunity to play-and-earn," Chairman of Animoca Brands Yat Sui said.

ZED RUN: Charity Tournament Concludes

On Monday, March 14, twelve monster stables entered a Charity Tournament called "For the Kids" with an entry price of 1.5 ETH benefiting Extra Life, a fundraising program of @CMNHospitals, which unites people around the world to play games and #ChangeKidsHealth.

Each stable submitted a sprinter, mid-runner, and marathoner to compete in a Fibonacci-style, three-race tournament. With a total pool of 18 ETH, each race split a pool of 4.5 ETH with normal ZED winning allocation of 60/25/15% on respective placements.

The sprint featured an absolutely beast field, with Billions, Secret Strategy, and Blood Duchess taking flames.  After a few early breaks, One More Tisha and Final Wave jumped out to a brief lead.  With about 400m left Stylish Criminal made a strong break, but Pearly Tour ended up on the good end of the variance with an electric last 300m to win by .771 seconds.  This win by Pearly Tour placed Arbitrage Racing at the top of the leaderboard after one race at 89 total points.

After Evergreen Gates also pulled out at A run at 1600 mid-distance, Arbitrage secured their first place spot and 2.7 ETH total prize.  Unbeknown of Know Your Horses x Dingaling pulled out a great variance run at the lower end of mid-preference with a 2nd place finish, pulling Know Your Horses to second overall after two races and sitting roughly 20 points ahead of third place Mr. and Mrs. Roid Rager Racing.

When all was said and done, notable stable Arbitrage Racing swept first place in all three races, taking home 2.7 ETH. Lucky Trader's own, Know Your Horses stable, secured second place in total points and earned a total of 1.125 ETH. Wagmi Racing came in third, earning a prize of 0.675 ETH prize.

Arbitrage Racing ended up donating 2 ETH in racing profits to benefit Extra Life, pushing total donations close to five digits.

Click here to see full stable/horses that competed in the Charity Tournament.

ZED RUN is also in the last week of the their first Class 1 Premier Tournament, which horses can qualify through PAID races.

The ZED team indicated that higher-priced entry fee races will reward racers with point multipliers for finishes, and the tournament has a total pool of $150,000.

The Red Village Delays Alpha Launch

The Red Village recently launched internal testing for their Alpha Tournament on March 10, but quickly hit roadblocks due to the recent Polygon network outage.

After proposing a new launch day of March 15, the team was forced to delay once more.

The Alpha launch is still battling a "threading issue" that causes animations to break.

No exact time of launch has been released, but the team indicated a "six to twelve hour" heads up once the Battles are clean and running.

BYOVerse

Starting on March 10, BYOCraft claiming went live for all holders.

Per 0xSeba.ETH as of Mar. 13, 51% (4547) of the BYOCrafts have been minted, "where mostly all apostles minted their corresponding craft, and the generic craft percentage corresponds mostly to the difference in number of vapes vs. apostles."

You can refer to the following tweet for a graphic representation of the BYO Ecosystem.

ZED RUN: Class 1 Premier Tournament

ZED RUN introduced a brand new tournament this week called the Class 1 Premier Tournament.

The tournament is set to feature the biggest and baddest racers ZED has to offer. The Class 1 Premier Tournament started on Mar. 7 and runs for two weeks.

During the next two weeks, horses can earn points towards qualification through Class 1 paid races. The ZED team indicated that higher-priced entry fee races will reward racers with point multipliers for finishes, and the tournament has a total pool of $150,000.

What horses will emerge as new forces to be reckoned with? What beasts will remain at the top?

The Red Village

On Mar. 1, The Red Village announced that the Alpha release of Tournaments will open up on Mar. 13 for Battlemasters.

The Red Village Tournaments are browser based WebGL games built in the game engine Unity, pushing the boundaries of current 3D games on the blockchain.

The team plans to roll out the Tournament in phases, allowing them to scale and adjust as they go. If all internal testing goes accordingly, Mar. 10 will feature two tournaments per hour and a total of 384 Champions fighting per day.

The second day will scale up to three tournaments per hour with a total of 576 Champions fighting per day, gradually increasing until reaching a total of twelve tournaments per hour and a total of 2,304 Champions fighting per day.

The Red Village circulation currently features 11,000 Champions, meaning not all Champions will be able to fight during the alpha launch.

It's expected that players may endure a long queue attempting to battle. To help alleviate this issue, the team has placed a seven Champion per wallet limit for the first week of Tournaments.

The first week of Tournaments will be hosted in the location called The Blood Theatre, where a total of eight champions "play out an exact replication of the fighting algorithm, as it actually happens."

The Red Village mechanics are effectively "turn-based," meaning this is synonymous with an auto-battler with Diablo-style camera angles/perception.

Ethernal Elves

On Jan. 31, Ethernal Elves sold out of their initial collection of 3,333 Sentinels, shortly followed by the launch of their staking and play-to-earn platform on Layer 1.

The Ethernal Elves team has ties to the Ether Orcs and Dogewood communities, subsequently building out their version of an on-chain, RPG Play-to-Earn game.

Initially, Ethernal Elves had two options: Passive and Campaign Mode. The Passive feature allowed Sentinels to earn $REN and claim after certain time periods ranging from seven days to one month.

Campaign mode was also released, launching three different locations to earn $REN, weapons, items, and level up with varying creature health and cooldown time.

On Mar. 4, the remaining 3,333 Sentinels and circulation were officially minted out with $REN at different price points as the circulation depleted.

Starting on Feb. 26, Ethernal Elves team opened the bridge to the Polygon blockchain in order to enact gasless transaction. While you’re Elves are on Polygon, they are securely being held in a state of suspended animation by the contract on Ethereum (Layer 1).

All gameplay transactions on Polygon will be free of charge, while $REN transactions still remain on Layer 1.

The Ethernal Elves team has also introduced new game modes since launch:

  • Bloodthirst - earn $REN and items
  • Rampage - sacrifice $REN to earn weapons, other rare gear, and level up (Set to Release Mar. 14)
  • Crusades - sacrifice $REN to earn Artifacts to mint Elders and future collections

The next phase of the project includes the launch of 2,222 "Elders." These can be minted with $REN (price to be announced), and a piece found during crusades called an Artifact.

Read more on what the Ethernal Elves team is building along with tokenomics and gameplay mechanics here.

CyberKongz

On Mar. 5, CyberKongz opened the bridge to Polygon for their CyberKong VX NFTs and $BANANA tokens.

The Polygon blockchain is the home of the new CyberKongz game "Play & Kollect," where holders can send their NFTs on adventures to gather Kongium Ore which can be redeemed for prizes such as $BANANA tokens or other NFTs.

The price to send your CyberKongz VX on the jungle adventure costs 0.4 $BANANA. Learn more about $BANANA and the Jungle Adventure on the CyberKongz website.

LT;DR Jan. 24 NFT Recap: 'Cosmic Reef' & Red Village Presale
How to Get Started With The Red Village
Ryan Trost

What Is The Red Village?

The Red Village is a first of its kind NFT-based multiplayer fighting tournament game operating on the Polygon blockchain. Harnessing the concepts of play-to-earn and competitive gaming, players collect, battle, and summon Champions that are their own uniquely identifiable tokens on the blockchain. The backdrop for The Red Village is found in the depths of the Forgotten Forest of the Seven Realms, isolated from the world by the Endless Ranges - a massive mountain range. Within the Red Village, the Blood Queen rules and dooms all Champions to fight for all of eternity. Here, players compete for glory!

How to Get Started With Red Village

To enter the Red Village game, you’ll need to be familiar with Metamask, Opensea, and the Ethereum and Polygon blockchains. To get started with MetaMask, you can refer to our Beginner's Guide to MetaMask.

The Red Village Gameplay Basics

There are a few fundamental aspects of the game to go over before we get anywhere near purchasing your first champion. For starters, each champion has a set of characteristics that make them unique. These are:

  • Class
  • Bloodline
  • Genotype
  • Rarity traits
  • Armor color
  • Skill traits

The Red Village Classes

Five classes exist in the The Red Village ecosystem. Each class has its own strengths and weaknesses, special moves and fighting styles. The five classes are Barbarian, Druid, Wizard, Ranger, and Paladin. With callbacks to traditional fighting games and MMORPGs, The Red Village surely hopes their players can get right into stride harnessing the abilities and workings of their favorite class of Champion. Further, each class has specific ranges for their strength, defense, accuracy, special moves, and fighting speed.

undefined

The best Battlemasters will be able to find the right class that fits their playing style on their way to domination. Will you go aggressively on the attack with a Barbarian? Protect yourself with the high defensive abilities of the Druid? Or do you prefer the more balanced approach of the Paladin? You control your destiny on the battlefield.

The Red Village Bloodlines

Similar to the aforementioned classes, there are also five Bloodlines in The Red Village. These reflect the Champions unique genetic makeup. Four Classes are considered Purebloods and are only available as direct mints from The Red Village website during one of four planned drops. The total number of Purebloods will be 28,000. No more will ever be minted.

The fifth bloodline consists of Halfblood Champions, summoned from two pureblood champions. We will discuss this gameplay mechanic more later in the article. Similar to the hugely popular digital horse racing platform Zed Run, The Red Village uses indexing notation to denote both bloodline and rarity. Genesis Champions have an R number of R1-R3; Mystics are R4-R6; Warlords are R7-R9, and Lionhearts are R10-R12. Halfblood Champions refer to any character who is Summoned, and will have an R number between R13 and R99.

undefined

Not much is known about the ability differences between the bloodlines, but we do know that the earlier your R number, the more likely your champion is to perform a special move in any given fight. This adds a unique advantage in closely matched fights between champions in lesser bloodlines. This is certainly something for all Battlemasters to be aware of.

The Red Village Rarity Traits

Each champion contains its own set of random cosmetic traits and characteristics: breed, hair style, hair color, armor color and war paint. While these traits do not affect fighting ability, they do aid in value propositions concerning scarcity and rarity.

Breed: There are seven different breeds; Highborn, Nordic, Half-Dwarf, Elf, Origin, Orc, and The Undead. Breeds are shown in the skin color and facial features of the Champion.

Hairstyle: There are five different hairstyles for each class of Champion

Hair color: There are five different hair colors across the classes: grey, light brown, dark brown, auburn, and blonde.

Armor color: There are 47 different armor colors of different rarities, which are organized into palette types. Armor color is shown in the armor of the Champion.

War paint: There are three different war paint styles (one of which is 'no warpaint'), and 8 different colors of warpaint.

Below is the list of all armor color groups and colors and their respective rarities

undefined

The Red Village Skill Traits

The key to discovering just how competitive your Champion is lies in understanding its Skill Traits. These five traits are assigned at random for pureblood champions and inherited by Halfbloods. As Battlemasters, we do not know the extent of these traits within our champions. By fighting against different opponents and in different arenas and tournaments we work to learn our champions abilities. By doing so, you can gain an edge over other Battlemasters and their champions. Below are the five traits with brief explanations.

Attack: This is the variation in the strength of a Champion's strike. Champions with higher attack points are more likely to hit towards the upper range of their strength factor more frequently.

Strength: This is the possible damage inflicted by any given strike. Stronger Champions will be able to hit more devastating blows.

Accuracy: This is the likelihood of landing a given strike. Champions with higher Accuracy are less likely to miss a given hit or have it blocked.

Defense: This is how hard of a strike a Champion can absorb before taking damage in a fight. More defensive Champions are likely to incur less damage.

Fatigue: This is how quickly a Champion recovers after participating in a fight or tournament. Champions with better fatigue ratings recover more quickly and will fight closer to their best more quickly.

Preferences

Finally, each champion contains preferences in regards to fighting style, arena, weather, and crowd size. While the last three preferences are in the works, for now we must focus on fighting preferences. Before the battle, the Battlemaster must select the preference they feel best suits the matchup based on their own understanding of their champion and of their opponent. Here is where we really start to see skill come into play. Below are the preferences and their effects on the champion.

undefined

Fights

The Red Village includes several unique and exciting types of gameplay, including tournaments with up to eight participants, 1v1s, free tournaments, and faction fights! In 1v1 duels, the winner claims the other Battlemaster's Champion! Truly a battle fit for bloodlust. Champions participate in the fighting class which marks their current battle rating. Current ratings are unknown, but the expected breakdown is listed below.

undefined

Factions

For many, factions may be one of the most exciting features of The Red Village. Join up with other NFT holders of your favorite projects to battle for glory. Meet and discuss strategy in faction specific Discord channels, battle in 8v8 fights against other factions, and lead your teams to victory.

Summoning

Summoning is the breeding mechanism within The Red Village. Characters created as a result of summoning are called Halfbloods. Outside of the four Pureblood drops, this will be the only way new champions can enter the The Red Village ecosystem. To summon, two characters from the same class must be used. Using each champion's unique genetic imprint, strengths and weaknesses are passed down to the Halfblood.

The R# calculations for summoning work as follows: "Halfblood Champions will receive an Rnumber that is the sum of its two blood donors +11. This is done to avoid diluting the scarce R1-R12 Genotypes. For example, if an R3 Genesis Champion gives blood and this is mixed with an R11 Lionheart Champion, this will create an R25 Halfblood Champion. If, however, two R1 Genesis Champions are used in the ritual, the Summoned Champion will receive an Rnumber of R13."

Looking Ahead

The drop process for the first batch of champions went over swimmingly, with more news of gameplay mechanics and schedule dropping imminently. The project is targeting early January for live gameplay and NFT gamers everywhere are chomping at the bit to get into the ring and battle! For more information regarding the project and announcements, you can visit The Red Village guidethe official website or the project's official Discord. We will see you on the fields of battle!

$ENS, the Ethereum Name Service token, is now available on Coinbase. ENS's .eth addresses make transferring crypto easier by translating the blockchain identifiers into short, readable names. These domains have been readily available since 2017, but their service stole the spotlight last week when they released a governance token for all who had registered domains. After being listed on Coinbase yesterday, $ENS dipped about seven percent; however, the market is relatively flat today. Previously unavailable on exchanges, Coinbase’s millions of users will now have access to the token.

Owners of '.eth' domains can now claim $ENS token airdrop
